Terrible News
« on: March 02, 2014, 11:41:23 AM »
A few years back I went a bit crazy buying and commissioning pony wear. Unfortunately a few of the pieces discolored my ponies terrible. Bowtie has a ring around her waist from where the dress's band while my UK variant Starburst has black dots all over her back.

I feel sick to my stomach. I should have known better than left the clothes on them long term. Needless I say, I ripped the clothes off EVERYONE in the herd.

Bowtie was the first pony I bought when I started recollecting as an adult (I had one as a child). And now I've ruined her.

Worst weekend ever :/

Oh man, I'm sorry. :( That happened to my Lemon Drop... I put a saddle and bridle on her and forgot about it... :( It really doesn't take long for those "highlighter" marks to appear.

Oh no! I'm so sorry... I think I know how you feel...

It happened something similar to me with my Daddy Sweet Celebrations from my childhood.
When I bought the Spanish Show Stable y put him the saddle and the bridles. He looked so handsome with them... And the other day I was taking new photos of my collection and when I removed them for the pictures I found that he was full of pink stains where the saddle and bridle had been... I don't really know what to do or if anything will remove it...

So sorry to hear this! :(

I have two or three ponies wearing outfits "permanently", because the outfits are far too cute not to show off, but they're duplicate ponies, and barely beyond bait condition (if not actually bait). If i ever get more organized with all the pony accessories, I plan to use baity ponies as models. Then it will become an issue of who should get the shelf space... The gorgeous, gownless Nightglider or the droopy Cotton Candy wearing her exotic abracadabra outfit (whatever the belly dancer G1 outfit is called lol).

You can lessen the chances of this happening by soaking all clothing in vinegar for a few days to set the dyes in, though black, navy blue and red are notorious for not being very color-fast.

Sorry to hear of it - how frustrating!  Maybe sunfading will help them out?

Oh no! :( So sorry to hear that some of your special ponies were stained.

I actually bought specific bait ponies to be Pony Wear models in my collection. I look for ponies that already have permanent marks on their bodies, but decent heads & hair so that they still appear nice on display. If gives "baits" a new life & it won't be a big deal if they get more stained by the clothing. :bigups:

That's horrible :(  It's so sad when a pony develops new problems, but a good reminder not to leave ponywear/accessories on good condition ponies.  I do love the suggestion of using baits as display ponies, or pony-quins  :P, for displaying ponywear.

Sorry to hear! I took my pony's clothes off after hearing this. My childhood bowtie still wears the dress though and has for a long time. I have another bowtie but my childhood one still wears clothes.
