Ms. Dazzle Cake and Twirly Treats: Fading Pink Hair?
« on: February 01, 2014, 11:15:35 AM »
I was looking at my pony collection and it dawned on me that Ms. Dazzle Cake and Twirly Treats might have some "fading pink" color streaks in their hair.  I have little experience with this color so I was wondering if they do indeed have this color and whether or not I should put them somewhere darker.  I've also heard that some ponies with fading pink hair have a similar kind that doesn't fade as easily, but I don't know if that is true or if it is used anymore.  Thanks in advance!

I was wondering that, too. Not sure about Mrs. Dazzle Cake since I don't have her, but Twirly Treats' hair colour looks very close to some of my unfaded G1s. Personally I'd keep them out of direct sunlight just in case, but it'd be nice to find out if they do have 'fading pink' hair or not! :)

I could do some checking tomorrow when its light out since I have both Twirly and hanks of Pussycat. I doubt it is though, quite a few ponies have light pink hair this gen but its pink havent quite matched with Pussycat.

The fading pink with newer ponies is not quite the same as on the G1s; and that means it is not as dramatically affected. However, pink [and red] will always fade quicker than any other colour - its the most sensitive to UV light. I would certainly not be leaving any pony with any shade of pink hair exposed to UV for too long or at least keep them in a more sheltered location.

I hope their current shelf is okay, it's not directly in the sun, but my room gets a LOT of light.

You just need to be aware that fading is possible. :) Just keep an eye on them and if you think it is fading them you would be best to relocate them.

Sorry for taking such time, I got distracted. I compared Pussycat and Twirly and they are two different kinds of pink. Twirlys pink is a matte spunn sugar pink while pussycat is a shiny pink with hints of orange in it.
Of course it can still fade, but if you keep it in a shaded place there shouldnt be much trouble.
