I'm walking to Yukon, or bust! (updated Feb 13)

Oh yeah! Let's get going!

Actually, not literally. I'm going on what's known as a virtual walk. I have a pedometer that counts my steps on a daily basis, and converts that into distance. So, if tomorrow I walk 5 miles around town, I would move my little pointer on my map by 5 miles. I'd keep doing this each day until my pointer is pointing at my goal.

Where is my goal, exactly? Well, I picked your friend and mine, Colorscapesart! She lives in Yukon, OK. It's a bit over 1700 miles to get there. Let me whip out my map! (Sorry that it's not too great of a map - I need to find something better.)

I'm at A and she's at D. (The B and C don't really mean anything, I was just trying to get Google Earth to put my route where I wanted it. It's fussy like that).

Now why am I posting about all this? It's simple. Motivation! If I have somewhere where I can periodically report my progress, I'm more likely to stick to it. I'm also going to see if I can get any of you bunch to send me postcards to make my virtual walk more real.*

*I'm mostly after postcards that are along my route or even just from the relevant States my route is in. So, if you live in Alberta, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas or Oklahoma - I'm looking at you. I can reimburse for shipping or whatever and I'm even thinking of making a special adoptable in exchange for postcards. This can all be sorted out in the weeks to come, though. No rush, I'll be at this for awhile.

In addition to that, I might soon open a guessing pool. I'll let people guess as to when I'll make it to Color's house and the top three (or whatever) could win ponies from my collection. Just for a rough idea, it took me 10 months to walk from my Lethbridge house to my old home in Yuma, AZ.

By the way, I started walking last Monday and I'll show you where I've wound up in these 8 days.

Oops, I realized I forgot to write my distance on the image. Oh well, I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things. I'll try to remember next time. It's almost 30 miles from my starting spot in any case.
