12 years a slave how did you find it ?

went to see 12 years a slave  yesterday and wondered if any one else here had ?

i hated the flogging scenes and i couldent watch some as they were very harrowing and heart rending also a lady had her kids sepurated from her and was crying all the time which was distressing  :(
i came out the screen in tears  :cry: :cry: and had to be comforted by charmer  :blush: xaflame

I've only seen the last six minutes of it at the end of my shift (works at a movietheatre) but those few minutes moved me to tears. I read up about it later and it's truly a horryfying story.

Studying slavery in History….I will be seeing it soon. Really looking forward to seeing it but at the same I'm not.  :(

I haven't seen it yet, but it looks intense and really good. One of those movies you want to see but don't want to at the same time because you know it will be difficult to watch . . . Schindler's List is another one of those that someday I have to watch.

I want to see it.  I love everything that Chiwetel Ejiofor has been in.  But at the same time, I don't want to see him being beaten. So sad and upsetting.  I probably will when comes out on DVD so I can watch it at home.

I recently watched another of Steve McQueen's films (Hunger) and whilst I'm sure this is just as powerful...I'm not sure I want to see it. If I do, it'll definitely be at home so I can pause it as I need...

It's not  "have done"...   it's actually factual to still use the present tense...

Slavery is actually even more prevalent today than it was back then... our population is much greater and our need for child-bearers/domestic servants/sexual satisfaction/goods manufactured in a not-so-nice way has increased substantially.  :(

This is a at home where I can switch it off for a while if I get too emotional movie. I do intend to see it as I enjoy movies which deal with a historical truth but not for perhaps another 6 months.

This film moved me deeply.  Wonderful film, but yeah, difficult to watch.
