2014 Minnesota Pony Meet - August 23rd - get ready!

This is what I have come up with so far *updated! 18 August* please let me know if I do not have something correct!


WHERE: ponyqyeen's house in Burnsville
WHEN: Saturday 23 August
Plan to come and set up around 10a, Trading to begin at 11a, fighting over ponies to commence at 11:02a 
Food will be had: when we get hungry
WHAT: to bring?

• **small bills** $1, $5, maybe $10s.
• ponies and other merch to sell/trade
• something for the potluck
• a $10 gift for the mystery swap if participating
• few small $1-$3 wrapped gifts for the Gift Grab dice game
• and a couple small prizes for the prize table [free things always welcome] (for contests and door prizes)
• "show and tell" ponies
• display table if you have one
• Ponies to Sell/Trade (G1, G2, G3, G3.5, G4
• Other items to sell/trade - many have expressed interest in 80's and 90's toys as well

Mane Dish (Protein):

• Aurora - I can either bring a main course crock pot dish or  a fruit pizza
• mngusty - can bring dogs and buns
• seaponey - brats and buns
• ponyqueen - hamburger meat, buns, ketchup, mustard, pickles
• Nimrodel - kale salad (crushed kale, apples, craisens, & sunflower seeds tossed with a light olive oil/vinaigrette dressing)  We are also planning on bringing another dish, hopefully something warm.

Side Dish/Snacks:

• Silver Glade - caprese salad
• rosierjay - potato salad and chips (take care of the starches)
• Delphian - I'll bring some sort of rice dish. Either a pilaf or stir fry
• seaponey - either a cracker dip or pretzel dip and pickles
• ringlets_  - I think I'm bringing my shrimp dip and crackers.
• wizzer - spinach and artichoke dip with bread and chips for dipping and if I have time a surprise of sorts

Fruit:

• mngusty - I'll bring fruit!  Grapes or bananas!
• scarlettkitty81 - I think I will be bringing some more fruit with. I will see what is on sale. Guessing mellon, grapes and berries

Dessert:

• ponyqueen - cake!
• Silver Glade - Peach Cobbler
• mngusty - mini cinnamon buns if I can find them at the store!
• bubbles171 - cookies reg and gluten free - with a surprise!

Drinks:

• TWILIGHTCOOKIE: Bringing CocaCola, Diet Pepsi, A&W, Mt Dew

Activity brainstorm from earlier in thread: Bold is happening for sure...

1) $10 mystery gift swap (not mandatory. buy a gift to get into the game!)

2) "Gift Grab Dice Game" (bring along a  few $1-$3 gifts, wrapped. I like this price point 'cause it makes it fun/easy to find fun/random gifts at endcaps, dollar stores, and garage sales We usually say to bring the same number of gifts as the number of people in your family plus one)

3) G1 to G4 custom contest (because of those cheap ponies and because I love this. Is anyone else a customizer besides Wizzer?) I tried to get one done, but a dye job didn't work... so I'm not in on this...

4) Caption Contest (for a pony staged photo that I would post here, submissions pmed to me, and would be voted on at the meet) pic to come today or tomorrow!

5) Art/craft contest! Like last year, only featuring Tex, our host pony. Paintings, customs, digital, sculpture, paper, sewing crafts etc. Prize for first place! I still wanna do this, anyone else in?

6) Group photo of host pony!

7) Ice breaker (I know a good one for all adults or kids if folks are interested- to be done after buying/trading of course! Requires answering two questions about yourself-such as what was your first pony- writing it on a post-it note, and guessing who's answer go to whom.) We'll do this maybe probably?!

8) Pony Showcase- bring in your brags for show and tell!

9) Trivia something... not sure if I will make a passive crossword or design a Jeopardy-like game, but I like trivia! Pony trivia, of course! I have not worked on this...

10) Prize for whomever drove the greatest distance to attend the meet!

11) Guess how many! I'll put candies or something in a jar.

12) Pony themed outdoor games... horseshoes!?

13) Actual MLP board games! Team play! Prizes!

14) Watch a pony movie! (or at least have a movie or the show playing in the background)

15) Pin the tail on the pony!

16) Raffle to win something awesome! In progress!

17) Eating cake (yes this is an activity!)

18) Tutorial/demonstration on custom/restore techniques (presented by...?)

19) Photography... designate one or two people as "official pony meet photographers" so we can be sure to get good photos of everything and everyone!

20) Pony wear- wear something with ponies on it (like a graphic t) or something colorful (It'll make our group look awesome in the photos! Maybe we could even say wear something in shades of yellow or pink, like our host pony! I had my bridesmaids pick out their own dresses, only it had to be a shade of green- they looked amazing together!) I'm wearing my pony dress from HT!

I'm so excited for the pony gathering!!!  I've been going through boxes of my ponies looking for ponies to sell, but I'm afraid I'm only 1/4 of the way there.  :-S  Eep, but at least I have a small box full.

Yes, quite a few. I was planning to have those separate. (Likely won't bring the play sets unless someone wants them since they are a pain to carry around.)

i have 3 nurseries! lol, one of which I think I would be maybe able to give away but that's about it. I just got rid of a stable and a G3 castle as well. and quite excited about that, too.
