Looking to make a G1 alicorn out of two regular G1s.
« on: January 07, 2014, 11:48:08 AM »
Which ponies would be compatible? Like, which two could I put together to do this without having to resort to clay edits, just dye?

Someone gave me the idea of doing a set of the G4 mane 6 as G1 ponies and I'd really like to try it. :drunk:

I haven't heard about any of the necklines lining up exactly between different poses. Usually there's different thicknesses. Have you considered cutting the wings off of a pegasus body and attaching them to a similarly-coloured unicorn body? On another note about colours, however you do this project, I would probably recommend getting all white body parts. I think it would be easier to dye onto a blank canvas, and if you acquired baity parts, you could also sunfade them rather easily to create a consistent base.

I did it with a Majesty head and Firefly body.  Fit was pretty good and then a FBR.   The earth pony I made from the extra bits was top heavy but a few small marbles in the back legs fixed that problem.

I also found this very helpful!! I have several G1s that are top-heavy and always tipping over. Thanks for the tip! ;)

And to the OT: I think it'd be easier to just snip a horn off of a unicorn and glue it on a peg to get your alicorn. That's what I would do anyway. ^-^ Good luck!

I never even thought of that to replace the weight of the washers in rusty FF ponies! Here I am making do with rusty washers! Thanks!

I made one with Sunlight's head and Medley's body. The coloring was off by a bit, but the neck seam fit when I tipped it a bit to one side.

LOL - I almost agree with the using a horn from one pony and popping it on a pegasus body & head. Unfortunately doing that does mean that you can never restore the 2 ponies again.

As others have mentioned part of the issue is that very few of the necklines really line up so even a reasonable fit will end up looking a little off. If you still want to try it then the Glory/Majesty head is the best bet on one of the Medley/Firefly bodies.
