Over $100 to ship Jumbo Frilly Frocks Inside the US?
« on: December 31, 2013, 05:55:04 AM »
I was doing a search today to see what giant pony plush were available on ebay and 2 Frilly Frock listings came up and each one had the shipping much higher than I remember paying for mine. I only paid $25-$30 for parcel post about 5 years ago when I bought my Frilly. :lookround:

Now, I'm trying to figure out why it would cost $108 (the price quoted by one seller, it was $98 for the other) to send her by cheapest method? Have postal rates more than tripled in the past 5 years? Seems kinda pricey to me since I only spent $50 to have a mini giant pony sent over from Australia!

You'd think within the same country it'd be a lot less money. Kinda scratching my head over this one.  :what:  I'm not interested in buying another Frilly, I was just wondering why the shipping quote was so high!

That is a hard one, I bought mine about year and half ago and I want to say that I paid close to $95 on her. I know that shipping prices have gone up a lot in the last few years. I like to have them un stuff to save on shipping.

$95 on shipping alone?? :drunk:  If that's true then I'm really glad that I got mine when the prices were relatively still 'cheap' as that's a huge price increase on postage... wow!! :faint:

Could be the seller didn't 'de stuff' it for the shipping quote. Could be they're also adding on the cost of 'labor and packaging materials' which ebay says they're allowed to do.
Thank you Thimble for my amazingly cute avatar!

I know the size of the box can be an issue as well. I shipped the crystal castle new in box and it cost me $40 to ship and that did not include tape or the cost of the box or packing materials. >.<

Frilly?   Oh yeah... totally normal.  Plus shipping with insurance and tracking, as sellers have to protect themselves these days from shipping mishaps/theft.

I have to admit that if I saw $95 for shipping, I might die a little inside. I have to agree with everyone else though that it is probably not really that outrageous if she is not destuffed, then add insurance, tracking, etc. and BAM!  :money:

plus the fact postage rates go up every year
Look at future Breyer horse postage and then realize a huge unstuffed plush could be a lot to ship
I bet not all sellers would want to destuff one
