(PS: Katai, your cosplay outfit is adorable! That shirt and vest are so perfectly fitting for AJ. )
I'm all for folks' freedom of expression, and there can be really lovely, well-done and tasteful 'sexy' cosplays done ... but a lot of the ones I see are beyond the realm of sexy and into really, um, borderline-illegal? I'm talking about stuff you see at the Renaissance Faire, with people literally spilling out of their too-small tops and such.

It was my first cosplay ever :3 My friend did a wonderful Twilight Sparkle, shes more seasoned than I however.:visitors can't see pics , please register or login Next for me is Padme from Episode 3, the brown outfit where she meets Anakin on the lava planet. I'm pregnant so it will be a fun, comfortable outfit. I was going to re-do AJ for Bay area Brony Spectacular, but..well I may need to modify it since I'll be 5 months. I don't have time to come up with a new costume.
Honestly while I would never do "sexy" cosplay, I feel that if someone wants to its their choice. I feel a bigger issue is guys that feel entitled to harass these women based on what they wear.

I personally have no issues with women showing as much skin as they want (after all, if men get to do it, why can't women?) as I don't think our bodies are anything to be ashamed of.I also agree that these issues don't exist in a vacuum, but that shouldn't be the cosplayers' fault, though here I would be going way off topic regarding entitlement.Either way, I also much prefer tasteful cosplays, but at the end of the day, it is their choice and I'm not sure that going around setting double standards for how women can and can't cosplay is the right thing to do
Here my AJ cosplay:visitors can't see pics , please register or login
The over-sexiness in all costuming in our society right now is annoying and it is disappointing--but not surprising at all--that it spread to MLP cosplays as well. I mean, just look at this blog post pointing out the issues that every Halloween costume series currently has:http://theworstthingsforsale.com/2013/10/28/cookie-monster-costumes/"Boys can dress up like Cookie Monster, and girls can dress up like a dress."(Remember in Equestria Girls all six of the Mane 6 wore skirts, even RD. Girls = dress, because dress = sexy)
