Isn't that a bit low?

So a like in the last week I was poking around Ebay and found an auction going for a Ice Crystal, I did think about bidding as at the time the bids were really low but didn't really have any disposable income to try it out with.

But I kept an eye on the auction just for the sake of it, and looked after it closed.
He went for 40 GBP. Isn't that really low for a Mountain Boy? Let alone Ice Crystal?

So roughly $65 US? It is quite a bit low, a good condition Icey can fetch double that. But it's also the time of year that a lot of people have emptied their pockets and maxed their cards, so perhaps there was nobody around able to bid him up to his general value. Or maybe there were some flaws that kept away the minty hunters and collectors (was he described as rehaired or anything?). Somebody got a great deal and will be having a merry xmas with a lovely pony, though!

Other factors could be the cost of shipping, or which countries the seller ships to. Or any bad feedback the seller may have (or just not enough feedback in general).

Thanks and I am very happy to have won this auction.    I was very shocked to get him at that price, had put in a maximum bid of £75 and did not expect to win to be honest.  I've wanted Ice Crystal since 1987 but didn't think I'd be able to afford one. He is in mint condition too as you can see below:

Ah, but it's 20 past midnight here in the UK and Santa has just been to our house - possible there may just be more pony goodies lurking under the tree

Its the luck of the draw An ended auction search for him also has one priced up at $135 which is quite a bit higher than a minty one normally goes for and higher than his current average. Thats the risks you take on ebay - some auctions will end above average [usually the ones I end up winning - I never snag a bargain ] and some below, the rest hovering in the middle. Thats the nature of auctioning I guess.

However in this case, the big player was that the seller would only ship to the UK. Traditionally Euro ponies run cheaper over here than they do when they are open to international bidders due to them being more likely to show up here. So yes this price for him was well under what he would go for on a wider internationally open auction but when he was only available to UK buyers its not that surprising.

Shocked not really I sold a good one for 30 something a few years back. I do think the winner is somewhat lucky though. As he has been generally higher lately. As he looks lovely.
