When did G1s get blush?
« on: December 20, 2013, 04:17:41 PM »
Ok... hoping this doesn't seem a silly question!!

When did the G1 line get blush?

I don't think I have found info anywhere to confirm, but I've always suspected/assumed that the collector pose ponies came without. Is this right?

But now I am venturing into a further theory. Did this also happen to other very early ponies?

The reason I'm suddenly wondering is I have just cleaned up a perfectly lovely Moonstone yet she has no trace of blush. My collection Moonstone has nice blush but upon sudden inspection my other very lovely first release rainbows don't?!  Even my minty as Applejack doesn't have blush - nor Bow Tie, Bubbles, Seashell.... do I just have all coincidentally faded ponies who are almost perfect in every other aspect??

Who else has this with their ponies? It is possible that the re-released rainbows got blush (Parasol, Moonstone etc) when Trickles, Pinwheel etc came out the following year?

Ok.... so, the rainbows though, are they supposed to have blush right from when they were released?

 :)

I think one of the main problems with blush and why we sometimes see it and sometimes don't is because its so easily rubbed off. Unlike eyes and symbols its a much more surface air brush effect, it is easily the most damageable paint and I know I have accidentally rubbed it off one cheek in the past when simply cleaning a pony.

It was the second year that it showed up on some sets - sea ponies, uni/peg, rainbows, etc set. However not every pony thereafter or at the same time got it - just to throw in some confusion in the mix :) Also some of the rainbow ponies which were later released as mail orders were missing blush, the ones offered latest.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
