I know I started on G4 so it may seem a bit weird...and I finished watching the episode...

IT WAS SOOOO AWESOME! I really loved the ending too! The first episode was a bit weird, but this one was awesome!!!

As you go through watching the g1 cartoon make sure you watch for the random color changes in the ponies, extra limbs and ponies that go from being one kind to another... Oh and furbobs are fun too...

yipee, giant cat witches who suffer from drug abuse!  but really, i love the g1 cartoon, probably because of its outrageous villians and cute art style. but the songs do get quite annoying after a while. i do love the song "good ol' days" from this episode though.

Don't forget in The Golden Horseshoes all ponies gain wings at one point when they're around Mimic! (making a couple alicorns I believe)
