SOLVED, thanks :) Fakie identification, please? :)
« on: December 03, 2013, 05:25:10 AM »
Hey all! I recently was given this Fakie by a family friend, and was wondering if anyone here on The Area might possibly be able to ID her for me? She's just had a wash after this pic was taken so she's looking better already, I'm thinking of calling her Eeyore because of her colors and because she looks kinda sad and slightly annoyed XD Thanks to anyone that might be able to help, it would be awful nice to know more about her ^_^

She looks like a Remco fakie to me (fakie of a fakie), because the eyes aren't as big as the Remcos, and generally they're a bit pudgier.

I would go with the fake remco pony ID, I love the real remcos though, I just wish I could find a copy of my childhood one though.

A genuine Remco will always be marked as such under their hooves, so if you don't see a manufacturer, then it's likely a fakie of the Remco fakies. (Or possibly even a fakie of a fakie of a fakie! :D ) She actually reminds me of some MOC fakies called "Pony Land" that are popping up on eBay right now, all manufactured as JaRu. JaRu is no stranger to the realm of fakies, especially Remco knockoffs.

Congrats on having her, by the way. She is cute! I'm a pretty big fan of Remco and Remco-like fakies! :frolic:

Aha! Thanks all for helping out, thanks to your clues I've been able to deduce that she is in face a Remco fakie- ta da! Here's a link to a very nice one I found online confirming our theories. Thanks all, the case is closed :D http://www.lofftaptoys.com/my-little-pony/purple-remco-fakie/

It's so funny that there are fakies copied from other fakies

I always wonder if they are stealing the molds from other factories or taking ponies and making molds of them... They always tweak them just a bit to avoid complete patent infringement, but still seems illegal.

A bit of both. Sometimes factories sell off old moulds but more often than not its reverse moulding - hence why fakies can be a little bit bigger or more often a little bit smaller than the original :)
