It's Hard Being the Only Geek

So I have a story to contribute.  Today we did an exploratory/gastrotomy on a dog that chewed up and ate part of a squeaky toy.  As we were fishing all the pieces out of the stomach, there was one big piece that was blocking the end of the stomach keeping the smaller pieces from entering the intestine.  I jokingly said we should name the big piece Gandalf.  I only got confused looks, to which I had to add, "You know, 'you shall not pass!"   
*sigh* I need to learn when to shut up.

This was classic!!! 
As for "being the only geek", I too, share that pain….being the avid fan of Elfquest, Star Wars, Star Trek, Captain Harlock, Robotech (and the movie, "Do You Remember Love?"), and LOTR, I was only fortunate that I have a bunch of friends who understand me…and my husband is a fan of the same!
