Does anyone else get overwhelmed with cute when they high-five their pokemon in Pokemon-amie? So far I've seen it work with Vulpix and Eeveelutions, so it may be a 4-legged pokemon thing.

Never tried it.  How do you do it?

You press your stylus down near one of their front paws and hold it there (not touching them, as that will turn to petting them). After a tiny bit they should try to bat at it, and if it's with the paw opposite of the side you're pressing the stylus down on, just switch sides Vulpix uses the left paw for example.

I just tried it and that is so cute. I'm still trying to get my Eevee, Edogawa, to evolve into Espeon and hopefully Amie helps with friendship.

Espeon and Umbreon haven't changed with the new generation. Your best bet's to cart them around with you with them holding a Soothe Bell. You can even take them in with you to the battle castle thingy, as both battling and walking around improve happiness. Just be sure to do the Umbreon at night only, or risk it becoming Espeon. The Amie system doesn't help evolving Eevee into anything other than Sylveon.

Yeah, Affection and Happiness are different statuses in this game. You can have perfect Affection, but still rather low Happiness. Soothe Bells, use in battle, keeping them from fainting, and visiting 'specialists' like the Berry Drink shop and massage NPCs are how you can improve Happiness faster. Remember, the more they're with you, the happier they are around you. It took me a couple days to get all my Eeveelutions. Now, all but Glaceon and Leafeon are my all the time team.... and they tear it up, I'm super happy with them. I can tell you that it can be hard to be patient for Espeon and Umbreon with Amie seeming like an easy way now, but it's worth it. I recommend actually avoiding Amie if you already have a Sylveon... you don't need 100% Amie to evolve a Sylveon, I had my Espeon candidate evolve into Sylveon twice! I lost a bit of progress on happiness each time I had to reset, because I just couldn't predict when that evolution would happen.

Oh wow, so happy, finally hatched my shiny Pidove Now on to my next project, just don't know what yet. And it would be so awesome to get an uber-pokémon so I can finally beat my friend with his crazy pokémon-science :p

I only want two shiny pokemon: a shiny Eevee that I can then evolve to Sylveon, and a Braixen. Haunting the Friend Safaris...
