Yea LLL!! You are correct it is color shifting paint designed for use on lexan and RC cars. I cannot remember the brand---I'll have a look when I get home. It must be used over a base coat of black or another color and MUST be sealed (It looks better sealed with gloss) I ordered some for a custom appliance paint job and decided to try it on ponies YAAAAY!!!
I got the kind that can be airbrushed on But they sell the kind you can spray from a can though I'm always scared it will remain tacky. This stuff dried smooth as silk!

Oh wow, I've always wanted to try that kind of paint on a pony. It looks fantastic!!
I'm with ZennaBug, I think a space themed pony would look awesome 
There are also some insects that have that sort of colour (some types of beetles, for example - I think they're called jewel beetles?). I could also see it working for a butterfly, though I'm not sure how you'd go about designing that one.
But I think a space theme would look amazing.

I was about to ask if it was spectraflare (the stuff used in car paint for shimmery hologram-effect colorshifting yumminess) but looks like it is. =]

I agree on the color of magic idea. lol the first symbol that jumped to mind was a battered wizard hat with "Wizzard" misspelled on it in sequins. or you could just do A'Tuin. =P

I was about to suggest doing a sunbeam snake personally. theres a couple great pics here. (theyre hard to photograph but WOW are they shiney/rainbowey when you get the pic off!)
