I just bought one listed as bait, that cleaned up to be near mint (perfect soft hair and all).  Her eyes are a pinkish-purple.  I had her sitting next to Fleecy and her eyes are the exact same color as Fleecy's body.  :)

Here are my gals...

I took two photos - so, it's kinda weird, I had to switch which one was on what side to get their eyes close enough together to take a shot...

So, the one I have with lavender eyes - is lavender on both sides, and the pink one is pink on both sides (but they're in different places in the photos)

Cute photos, everypony! ^.^

I just took my Sand Digger out to work her hair out of the braids it came in (I'm behind in my pony cleaning and grooming; what else is new? ), and it kind of looks like her DS eye is pinker than her NDS eye, which itself looks well on its way to going pink.  G3.5 Starsong in for colour comparison.

Yep! I am pretty sure she's just a really crazy fader... haha - that pink mush wash out quickly to be able to affect one side or the other. Still, I think I have to keep both of mine, lol

Does anyone have one that's quite as faded to lavender as mine is? Her body isn't faded at all - which is the weirdest part about it...

That's such a pretty pic Eldarwen!

  I thought it was the lavender fading to leave the bright pink...?

Eldarwen that is just the most amazing looking Sand Digger! Gorgeous!

That's such a pretty pic Eldarwen!

Its not "fading" thats why the remainder of her body and paint can still be fine. Its the pigments in the paint colour which leach out. :)

Well all I was saying is, the pink color that matches my pink ones eyes n her body is the same shade of pink on the lavender eyes body... meaning that whatever certain special darker pink pigment is the one that "fades" out. Perhaps it is "leaching" out, I just used the word "fade". Same thing, just different wording. I just think that over time, if it truly was leeching of that color that many more Sand Diggers would be lavender and not pink...? And if it was anything like fading or being exposed to the sun, as they were Sunshine ponies - that I'd see some indication of her body also experiencing more time in the sun versus my dark pink eyed one...

And Sugar, apparently her eyes are "pink" as per mylittlewiki - from factory, so, the pinker part would leech out leaving the purple behind. Similar to how purple over time can fade out to blue (I have Majesty's who have blue eyes like this),

In my opinion, not necessarily. Think about the amount of Sand Diggers made - loads of different batches for different destinations. Just because one batch is prone to the colour change does not mean all the others will be. The grand total of Sand Diggers in collectors hands is no doubt tiny in comparison to the total made and lost over the years but even in this thread you have a couple which have had the same colour issue. Its a different step in manufacture the paint used in eyes than in symbols so again its not that unlikely that one part of her will change and another will not depending on the batch of paint used at the time. :)

Either way its always cool to have both versions of her :)

As always Cat, I appreciate your input. I totally get what you're saying, and agree. It must be that... so perhaps there were less batches prone to leeching or fading, than not. Because I honestly would expect that if it was just an across the board thing, that the PINK eyes would be harder to find than the leeched out to purple colored eyes.

And that's what I was going for - I think I need to keep both of my Sand Diggers because I just can't get over the huge differences in their eye color. And heck, that's what makes ponies cool right? Little variations between batches and whatnot?
