I really like my name, but when I was a teenager I told everyone my name was Kelly. Total Beverly Hills 90210 addict back then. I even wrote real name + Kelly + family name on all my school tests ...

I'm cool with my first name. No real way to make fun of it or have anyone make annoying little nicknames from. I was named after Erik Estrada, and he's hot (or at least he was when he was on CHiPs...he's kind of old now, lol!). Anyway, my mom loved Erik Estrada and they were hoping for a boy, but when I arrived instead I was deemed "Erica". ^-^

My first name is Katrine (pronounced Katrina) and I wasn't too keen on it, especially when I moved to Denmark and heard other Danish names. Now it's embarrassing but I was at one point leaning towards Silke (pronounced Silka) and Lærke (pronounce the æ like an open e as in "let" and the e in the name like an a). I thought those were very pretty but now I'll just stick with the name I have :P

I don't mean any offense to anyone, but seeing all of these differently-spelled names makes me happy mine's is spelled simply. Not that they're not lovely or anything, but I'm a stickler for spelling, so getting my name spelled wrong on cards or gifts would be a huge pet peeve. xD

You mean you don't get people writing Sondra?  Or Saundra?  My name is a very simple common spelling and lots of people still write crazy versions of the name.  More than half the time they don't even choose the name that sounds like my name which I would expect them to choose if they didn't know which version it was.

Here is my example.  My name is Dawn (not really).  It should be easy to spell if you know I am a girl and it is a girls name.  But you might expect some people to write Don because they are more familiar with the guys name (and that does happen some).  But no!  I get Daun, Dahn, Dwon, Donn, etc.  Where do they come up with these names?!?!

Nope, surprisingly no weird spellings for my name. Although people at fast food places sometimes mishear me and write the name 'Amber' on my order.

My name is Eveliina, I used to hate it when I was younger. And even worse, I couldnt stand it when people called me Eve. Nowdays I feel totally different, I like my name. And I dont mind if people call me Eve either.

I never really wanted to change my name I just wanted to have a nickname! I thought nicknames were sooo cool. Christina isn't overly common but it pops up a lot and is rather long for a little kid. I had an Aunt Christina who went by Chris and I really looked up to her and wanted to be called Chris as well. It took my sister calling me Nina (what she called me when she was too little to say Christina) around our friends for them all to pick up Nina and I finally got my nickname!! (In college >_< )

It seems Cristina or Kristina is the more popular spellings so I always have to say "with a C H." I can't stand being called Christine, I don't understand why so many people ignore the A.

I'm surprised you didn't get a nickname sooner.  All the Christina/Christines I know went by nicknames.  I knew a Tina, a Crista, a few by Chris, and lots going by Christy and Chrissy.   I like your Nina best of all.  Christine/a was a very popular name in my school.

I guess some family members tried Tina but for whatever reason my mother HATED that name and wouldn't allow it. And now my family has a dog named Chrissy so I certainly wouldn't want that nickname
I'm satisfied with Nina.

I just wish my name had different spelling. My name is Catherine, but the majority of my family calls me Cati. Argh, why couldn't my parents have put an "e" at the end of it? Then it would have been normal. In any case, I prefer being called Cathy, and that's what I call myself online, but no one calls me that anyway, LOL.

I always liked the name Sadie though.

Sometimes I wish I was named what my mum(?) originally thought. One or the other decided I wasn't going to be called Charlotte.
So I'm Vicky-Vic-Vic to my friends because of that.
:P
I always wished I was Charlotte.
I also get called Lou a lot as it's part of my middle name (Louise)

Sort of.  My first name is Erin, but when I was 14 I decided that it didn't feel right, but my middle name is Courtney. I go by Courtney now...at work, at home, even my family call me Courtney.  THe only people who call me Erin are doctors because I didn't legally change my name. It's weird as I've been Courtney for over 16 years now :) I love the name Courtney though ;)
