I'm going to make a bold prediction... I think we might get a G4.5! And continuation of the blind bags as they are (albeit with more sculpts and more themes, i.e. Merponies/seaponies)

Maybe we should all just start collecting and watching Filly Funtasia? XD
I know I check this blog every week or so.

Wow, really? These guys disappeared from my local stores about a year ago.

Maybe we should band together and buy Hasbro stock to the point we're a controlling interest and exert that control on their My Little Pony division.  Shouldn't take more than a few hundred million dollars.

I'm taking a marketing class and now how Hasbro approaches MLP really makes me cringe.  Equestria Girls has to be one of the worst attempts at market penetration ever.  "Let's like inferior dolls and charge same price as our competition's better made dolls."  Do they have anyone running the MLP department that has any real business sense?

My only thought is that Hasbro IS getting the girls who like ponies but aren't "old enough" to be into grundge/alternative/monster/scary dolls.  Equestria Girls are in that "Safe Fun" zone for younger girls.

okay I'm not dissing MH,.. in fact I think they're really cool, but just saying they have a certain appeal that younger girls aren't ready for.

The problem is Equestria Girls is supposedly Hasbro's way to breaking into the teen/tween market.  In truth, they're only selling to younger girls who are interested in them because they're tied to ponies.

Frankly, they should product develop the ponies to make them more marketable to older girls, like make them better quality and a little more in depth.  Bring back the little backstories for each ponies, and even if using vectors create a scene showcasing the set rather than just a static recolor of the Mane 6.  Have new ponies every year along with the core cast so consumers who already have the core are looking for the latest ponies.

I'm sorta thinking, isn't equestria girls G5?

Especially considering we give a .5 to something in G3...

EQ's are at least G4.5

I wouldn't because they're a spinoff.  They're also not ponies.

Haha omg I love this thread!!
But alot of it is very true. I am very disappointed with Hasbro these days. Whatever happemed to the diversity and creativity of G1? If anything the toys should have been just like g1 if not better then it because of all the toys you can make out of FiM! Furthermore, here are my ideas for g4.5.
I really really like the g4 designs, but I would like it if they were a little more pony like. Horses come in many different breeds, you should take advantage of that! Maybe add some new body types like in the show or more boy ponies WITHOUT troll hair. This goes for all the gens, but ponies have almost no articulation for posing or play. Articulation shouldn't be only with "special" ponies in expensive playsets. Ponies should come in more poses then just standing and raising hoof up, I'm sure hasbro can do more then that. The non mane 6 pony singles were great and adorable! If they think kids won't like them, they better think again! Kids love to make up personalities for their ponies and shouldn't be restricted with the ponies that already have personalities. Theres plenty of blind bags, background ponies, and old gen ponies with beautiful designs just ready to be used! Basically, just take a hint from G1.

Well, since Hasbro doesn't seem to be noticing the Arena lately... maybe the secret FF sales reps are here! ;)
