My mom may have just thought of the ultimate MLP exclusive gimmick...

I was telling my mom today about the new set with Minty and how the super-sought after ponies always get lumped in with common re-releases.  She thought it was pretty ridiculous for the same six ponies to keep getting released and thought Hasbro could ultimately make a lot more money and make the brand more collectible if they made more lines like the birthflowers.

Then, she let loose her idea: 50 unique state-themed ponies for each of the United States...each available only in the state it is themed for.  Country-themed international exclusives available only in that country. 

She's pretty sure the Arena and eBay would explode

  That is probably the greatest and most evil idea I have ever heard of! I can already imagine people going crazy with the exclusives especially with how much shipping would be from country to country. I actually really like this idea

Could you imagine trying to collect them all...scary! You'd be buying so many from your own state just to be able to trade it for another one.

Seriously Hasbro needs to let those who understand ponies be in charge I love your Mum's idea. I have always loved the idea of ponies representing countries/states - I am sure some of them would be gorgeous.

I thought one time it would neat if Hasbro made a deal with sports teams to make ponies based on the teams.  I don't know how many MLP fans like sports, but who knows.

I'd love to see a Florida themed pony... Although in my mind that's what I consider G3 Citrus Sweetheart ;-) she would make a gorgeous G4 pony and I really want a custom of her.

Ty did something similar with Beanie Babies at one point I think, with the Issys, although those were international....plus lots of other random international exclusives.  And they probably even did the state thing at some point haha.
