The thing that bothers me is they don't give you enough gems.  I hate the empty holes in dress, bathtub, etc.

This 100%

you would have to save up the gems from all the other toys that have them in order to fill up one pony set's accessories.

I sold all my fs accessories except the combs. I think the costuming and shoes they designed for the ponies are kinda gody looking, not so much my cup o' tea.

I voted indifferent.  I don't like the feature myself because I just don't like the plastic clothing.  And as another person said, they don't give you enough gems to fill in the holes.  And on top of that, the gems don't match in shape or coloring so I would find that irritating too.  But so far, that feature has only been released with the mane 6/princesses and since I don't need any more of them, I am indifferent.   If they were releasing new characters with this feature so that I had to pay more money in order to get the new character... then I would loathe it.

I pretty much chuck all my accessories into a ziploc bag when I get them. I don't have of the sets that have this feature but the accessories would probably get bagged too.

I was wondering if someone would put up a thread like this!

I think it's an interesting idea that isn't done with much or any consideration for quality. (Which is Hasbro's standard these days.) It ties all the G4 accessory sets together, because they all have this common theme of decorating clothing and items with these clear plastic gems. But like other people have said, they don't supply enough gems in each pack, nor is there any kind of theme or common look for the gems. They come in all different colors and all different shapes (diamon, heart, square, etc.) So pretty much kids will just slap them in anywhere they find a hole in the clothing or items the pony comes with.

The most recent one I noticed was FS Twilight Sparkle alicorn, at Target. She comes with three purses (or to be more precise a purse, a handbag, and a clutch) and a comb, and also comes with three jewels: a pink diamond, a purple flower, and a blue heart. You can switch the three jewels onto any of the three different purses, but that's about it. If you have other sets, you could take the jewels from those other accessories and put them on TS's purses.

What Hasbro should really do is put out a little accessory side-set that is just a bunch of the different plastic jewels, so girls can do their own color combos and also to be refills if they lose the jewels that come with the playsets. But I don't think that's the direction Hasbro wants to go. We haven't seen many accessory-only sets. In the G1 days they had clothing sets, and in G3 days they had only one or two playsets with some furniture for the castle, but that's it. They'd much rather add a larger price tag and include some more re-released characters, like the bathtub with Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie for example.
Thank you Thimble for my amazingly cute avatar!

I am kind of meh on it...mainly because I like the idea and I think its cute to tie all the sets together...but I dislike the general lack of them and the randomness of how many and when they are included.
