Hi! Older pony collector, new to the community

hello, I was brief in my previous message as having to type one handed - my toddler was asleep in my arms    I was lucky in that I got a load of G2s when they started turning up in PoundStretcher etc when i was a student.  I agree I love their hooves. I love my G3s though. When they came out I was finally earning a decent salery and could afford to treat myself each payday - thats how my G3 collection started! It was pre-kids of course. Now I have limited funds for pony collecting! But fortunately my husband finds me lots of G3s at flea markets and charity shops

Well, I would say Im not interested in G4s but there are an alarming number of brushable G4s and blindbags around this house. I buy the ones I think are pretty when I see them and I get the magazine and the comic but I dont watch the show or really think about the G4 world.  i think I will love them when they start turning up in charity shops!

I personally love the G4 world- I enjoy universe building and the continued expansion of it. The G1 show was never really fleshed out as it was written by a bunch of different people and no one took it seriously, though I wish it had been more directly connected to the shared Hasbro cartoon universe of the time. I do have a growing herd of characters from the show, plus a few non-show ones I liked the look of (like Feathermay and Plumette; I wish the show had better synergy with the toyline.)

Welcome to ponyland! So sad about your childhood ponies! My mom was opposite, she taught me to keep everything and that has it's downside too!

Happy Pony Hunting, and I hope you get all your childhood ponies back! Are there any specifically you remember having? I almost remember purchasing everyone and getting them gifted to me!

My mom is hugely anti-clutter, which is why she sold my ponies (and some other toys) when we moved- I don't think she realized how much they meant to me until I became a teenager and then an adult and was still pining for them.

I don't remember how I got most of them, but I remember almost all the ones I had (though I didn't know their names then): Shady, Bouncy, Lofty (I managed to find one a couple weeks ago), SS Twilight, Sugarberry, Dancing Butterflies, Baby Half Note and her playset (just got a BB Half Note last week) and the twins Noodles and Doodles. I also had three baby sea ponies (Sea Shimmer for sure, don't fully remember the other two's colors- perhaps Backstroke and Sea Star?) That's in addition to the three I saved (BB Moondancer, Quackers and Pony Bride) and the tropical baby (BB Sunribbon) my aunt gave me immediately after the others were sold and we were in the process of leaving. I remember when I got Quackers (at my grandmother's, probably for my birthday); Noodles and Doodles were a Christmas present, and I got to pick Dancing Butterflies from KB Toys's giant wall of ponies. I distinctly remember getting BB Moondancer, though I don't remember the occasion- I had to have been really young!

*Whew* That was a great trip down memory lane!

Yes, Dancing Butterflies is beautiful! And Quakers too! tho I've taken great care of mt Quackers she has faded a dingy grey color

Cool! I was aware of Rainbow Brite as a kid but wasn't all that interested (probably because I didn't realize there were horses) until I saw the Star Stealer movie a few years ago.

My mom thinks she might have found my ponies! Hopefully I'll be seeing them soon...
