Did you bury it?
If you did, the time capsule will usually pop back up after a month (ish) in the same spot so you can give it to them.

Nope, this one he told me to 'just hold onto' in my mail for 2 weeks. But he never asked for it back. Eventually, it just let me open it.

i just had this cute little mousie villager named Bettina move in :3 and pretty much immediately after i noticed a plot of land reserved for paula! (shes probably my 3rd favorite bear villager, my first being tutu and pinky)

aaaand a few rules: you can fish and catch bugs all ya like, but no digging up fossils or gems or stuff like that.  also  if i haven't already bought one, please dont buy a fortune cookie unless i say ya can. also no taking perfect fruit, and leave some of my oranges, i only have two orange trees.  (you can of course take apples. i have more than enough of those.)
