Is there a definitive biro remover?
« on: June 26, 2013, 04:22:42 AM »
I have a Bonnie Bonnets who is lovely apart from the biro on her ear. (and a smudge there. and over there. and on her foot.)

Is there a general consensus on what is good to use? Some stuff causes discoloration, something else can cause x/y/z etcetc..

Suggestions I've seen include: a paste of oxyclean, bleach pens, remove-zit, high content hydrogen peroxide cream, magic eraser (I've tried that one, it's not shifting) and sunfading. Any help?

Have you tried a bit of acetone, it doesn't always work but it has on some of mine in the past.

the trouble i find with sunfading is some ponies don't survive it like cherry treats who turns into a tan pony instead of white

i had biro on my Galaxy and wiping her with 9% hyrdrogen peroxide, wrapping her in foil except the area i wanted faded and sunfading her for a few days worked really well. but apparently there are different results for different coloured ponies?
try acetone first though. i find that gets most marks off ponies for me. :)

Sun fading is the only method I've had success with.

Acetone hasn't worked, the  6% hydrogen peroxide hasn't worked..because of her colour and being TAF I'm being rather cautious about what I throw at her. (She also has a rusty tail. I've been plagued by rustbutts the past few weeks!)

*stares out window* Sunfading it is then, I shall take her to Egypt and stick her on my balcony along with Sugarberry for the week XD

Alas in all our years of experimenting technically I dont think anyone could claim to be 100% certain on something or have something which truly works every time.

Personally I think most things are worth a try but I honestly think the long term damage of things like remove-zit or bleaching creams are not worth it - they will at either immediately or at some point in the future bleach the colour from the plastic.

I think sunfading is your best bet. I live in Scotland and can sun fade - even though it perhaps takes much much longer :P But as long as you get he right window and leave them in position long enough it will hopefully work.

Otherwise I hope you and the ponies have fun in Egypt!

Not had a great deal of sun down in the south yet this year either! I shall perch everyone on the windowsill that needs fading and see how they are come holiday time. :)
