Organize ALL the ponies!

I'm afraid I don't have that many (YET), but they are starting to fall into a pattern seemingly naturally! G1s are my focus, and they are in a few places around the house organised first by pose, then by colour. I think if I completed a few sets that were very distinctive (i.e. MGRs) I would perhaps display these seperately. Uhhhhh.... I REALLY LOVE ARRANGING so I'm excited to get a bigger herd, haha! 

I have four G4s, and they're just on the bookshelf, and my G4 blind bags are on the office cabinet.

Mine are sort of organized by pose... I say sort of because there are a few that I just put together because they look cute together. xD

I have ponies here, there EVERYWHERE!!!  I classify them into herds; Summerherd, Winterherd, Autumnherd, Springherd, and Nomads. I only collect G3s and G4s 
So it just depends on the ponies name, colors, and cutie mark.
Some are obvious (Snowflake=Winter, Caribbean Delight=Summer, Pumpkin Tart=Autumn, Spring Breeze= Spring, G3/G4 Rarity=Nomad)

Some aren't obvious on the other hoof :s

I have too many collections and not enough room to display them all, so unfortunately my ponies are in storage.  I don't have a very large collection, at least not compared to some of the ones on display here, so they all hang out together in their cedar storage cube, except for a special few who live in a collector's case.

I think if I ever do get to a point where I can properly display all of my collections, I'll arrange my ponies by year and sub-line.  I only really collect the first few years of G1, with a few exceptions.

By pose and generation! I put type because I guess that implies pose

I organize by color. When I walk into my studio and glance at my pony cabinet I like to be struck by the general look of a bright rainbow of color first, and by the detail of individual ponies second. I try to keep my super analytical (read "compulsive") side out of my pony collection and approach it as I would have when I was a child. It keeps the hobby more relaxing for me, but I totally understand the completionist preference to arrange by set and year too (almost like a pony museum!).

Currently I only have room to have out 1 or 1/2 a generation out at a time. currently it is my g3s and some new g4s that are getting work done to them. The only problem is that the g3 collection is growing now that I can see it.

For the most parts my ponies are organized in sets and by the year the came out.
For example, Year 1 Collector's Ponies, Year 2 Earth Ponies, Year 2 Unicorns & Pegasi, Year 2 Rainbow Ponies, etc.

Except for the top shelf. The top shelf is for special ponies, like non-U.S. ponies, non-G1 ponies, MIB ponies, playsets, customs, merch, etc.

My organization system is by generation, country, year, and grouping.  For the most part the U.S. g1s are in chronological order. I like to keep groupings together.  This way i can find them easily.

I try to arrange them so that the colours look "balanced" and there's not too much of one colour on one side of the shelf etc. I keep my G1s, G4s and Fairy Tail Birds together, but arranged basically based on the same principle. I don't really collect entire sets, only those ponies that I really like, so I think this is the best method for me.

Although I did arrange everything by colour for a while and I liked that too, so I guess I rotate  The pink/white shelf looked the coolest I think:

I first have them by there age and then have to with there poses. I should post pictures later on.
