How many of you would do this?

So, we have a group where I live on facebook called the Capital District Kids Swap. You can buy, sell and trade kids items. This morning, I saw this picture, and the note said: Make reasonable offer.

I couldn't see baby Glory going to a little kid somewhere, so I sent a message offering $5. The lady agreed, and I am going to go pick her up later this week. Cool huh? The thing is. I already have a pretty nice Baby Glory, and I don't collect accessories, so I don't really need any of this stuff. I just felt like this pony had to be brought into the collecting community. Especially since she is a G1.

Do others do this? Buy ponies you don't need for your collection without a plan of what to do with them?

I have been known to. I used to buy every pony I saw til one day I saw a squashed flat Cherries Jubilee at a second hand market and just thought "this has got to stop"

I used to, but I don't anymore, unless its G1. I still find G3s in thrift stores on a weekly basis but I don't by them as they are usually priced up at £3.50 or there abouts.

No, I don't do that. I don't make assumptions on who would buy the pony if I didn't. You don't know if another collector would have needed her. You don't know if a child that received her would have taken good care of her or not. My daughter started her pony collection when she was 2 and her ponies are still pristine today, 15 years later. She never lost a single accessory, not even the tiniest. As a matter of fact, I am the one who accidentally lost an accessory while cleaning her ponies. I lost Baby Ruby's ring >< I later replaced it but the point of this story is...don't make assumptions.

I'm the same way - if I already have the pony, I leave the "find" for someone else to hunt down and get excited about!    Leaving the ponies at the thrift store sometimes is like spreading the pony joy.

I almost never find G1 in my area so I would have snapped her up.

Also, supposing no one made an offer?  What if she had ended up in the trash because noone wanted her?

I have never had the job of finding ponies in a store. Well I take that back, I have found a few at the second hand store. I did pass some of them up cause I already had them or they were with some of the G3.5 ponies.

If I find ponies from the flea market, I will buy them, even if I already have them. I have to admit, I hate the thought of them going to a child. I know how I treated my old ponies..  I know, not all kids are like that.. But still.

I sold Baby Tic Tac Toe once on facebook for over 25 euros, and the buyer told me she will give it to her kids. Well, okay, but thats kinda expensive in my opinion.. for a toy. And she was perfectly mint, so.. I did feel kinda bad.

I buy any G1 I can find, if it's a good price. I try to save every one of them. Maybe that's why I don't have that much in my savings.

I do whenever I find ponies. If I don't need them I sell or trade them. I can't leave ponies behind I even bought the most manky lookin Firefly for $5.99 just because I couldn't leave a G1 behind!

I've never had any charity shop/car boot pony finds yet,but if not I would be buying all that I saw,unless they were ridiculously overpriced or bad condition.

I find very little in the UK too, but when I do find things I only get it if I don't have it or if it is an upgrade to what I already have.

I don't have the space to be getting doubles of loads of things "just in case" they went to someone who wouldn't take care of it. It's bad enough having the doubles of the things I've upgraded (further evidence we need to move so I can have a pony room but that's besides the point )

Plus, I don't know who else is out there looking and may well want the pony, and eve if it goes to a child that child might be really happy with it. Plus it might get played with like the pony-god intended lol

It all depends on the price, usually I will pick up doubles, especially babies, great for customs!
