It's all in the eyes

Specifying! I love the color swirl and shaped shine of G3 eyes, but I also enjoy the variety of eye shapes of G4s.

I voted G1 eyes. But I like G4 eyes too, they fit the G4 ponies perfectly.  I mean, G4 pony with G1 style eyes would be just weird.

this would be a hard decision for me.  I love G1 eyes.  They are classic.  But I also like G3 eyes.  The harken back to G1 but they are more varied.  I like the little symbols in their eyes.  Especially the ones like Applejack and Waterfire.  And even though I don't really collect G2, I've always like the concept of the little gem in their eyes.

Torn between G1 and G3, G1 is so calm and wise with the pretty extra-think black line on the top. G3 is so vibrant and full of fun though!

It is a complete tie for me between the G1 and the G3.  I can't decide!

Other.  I the original G1 eyes best of all, so sweet and shy-looking... but like some others have said, I also really like the shaped eye-sparkles of G3.  (I think it was Applejack's eye-symbols that sold me on that.)

G1 - the eyes were always the thing I liked most about ponies and the G1s really have pretty and soulful eyes. I don't think they ever have been able to recreate those eyes

^^  So true!  I just got my first 25th Anniversary re-issue pony (Skydancer) and the eyes are... off, somehow.  Not quite right.

The G3 eyes are cute but the G1 eyes are design classics. So simple and yet so calm and innocent.

I love the G2 ponies, but voted for G1 eyes. For some reason, some G2 eyes look really evil.

Best eyes on a G4: Cadence
Worst eyes on a G4: Its a tie between the first Luna brushable and the molded Celestia figurine. If you look at them from the front they have this bizarre deranged look.

The other gens had pretty eyes too. I love the gems in the G2s and the sweet looks of the G1s.

G1. I'm not a big fan of crystals in the eyes (they look more evil than bbe's). G3 and beyond are too big and the bigger they get the less proportionate to a real horse.

G1 eyes. Especially the beautiful Greek eyes. And unusual colours like Rosette's orangey-brown eyes
