I decided to give it a try and here are my first two finished products. They're a little rough, pretty simple. I'm a long way from re-rooting and airbrushing, but you gotta start somewhere, right? They started life as Pinkie Pies. The first one I painted black, died the hair with India ink, hand painted swirls of blue, purple, and silver up the legs, added some henna-esque swirls around the eyes, and finished with high gloss. I started my little demon girl with a red base covered by black crackle finish, and added the horns, harness, and chain tail with the charm on the end. Soooo waddya think? Be gentle. It's my first time.  What might I list them for? Is $10 too much?

So cute! I love the design of the first! The detail around the eyes is too cute! And the effect on the red and black one is awesome!

the demon one: that paint job is awesome. I would totally love a pony with that kind of paint job. and while I personally  would prefer that paint job on a pony without the other stuff, I always enjoy seeing how people think outside the box. The "horns" are especially creative

Thanks! I'm still just experimenting with different paints and effects. So far I've only sent one Pinkie Pie to Pony Heaven; I didn't like the paint job I did on it and tried to strip it and she melted

Very nice job,especially for your firsts! I love the colors and smoothness of the paintwork on the first one, and the crackle effect on the second is definitely interesting. I almost used crackle paint on a pony for an old pottery effect then chickened out. It's nice to get an idea of how it handles =)

Your first ones? These are wery well done, I especially love the red one, allthough I'm not so big fan of red colour, but you nailed this one! I also like the colour contrast and smooth paintjob on the first one

 Hint: get a very small detailbrush, you will find it best when it comes in painting those details, like on the "eyeliners" on the black one you did

Thank you all so much for the feedback! Thanks for the tip too. I had a really fine brush but I must have been painting too intensely; I snapped it in half. I ended up finishing it with a toothpick.  Do you think I could list them for sale? How much do you think? I'm new to this realm and I have no idea about pricing on these things.

They look great! Love the texture on the red pony - so cool.  Both of them are fantastic and super creative! I actually like the shiny black too- and I don't usually like shiny.   I guess if I were to try and find an area of potential improvement, the detailing around the eye of the first pony is just a tad thick- I learned from another customizer around here- it really helps to thin down the paint quite a lot for detail work (and of course practice as I'm learning)
