Theres always gonna be stuff in a google search you don't wanna see, it cannot read your mind and assume that when you type 'pony' you only mean sfw cute art or photos of toys. It is silly to even think it's possible for no suggestive or explicit images will not appear in some way.
When the Equestria Girls dolls show up in stores and you end up with unneeded doubles, PM me! I'll buy them!/i]

Yes! I agree! I don't like it when I go through some tags on tumblr (LPS, Monster High, Black Canary and other female comic book characters) and find NSFW pictures that I really didn't want to see. I tend to ignore it as it doesn't come up too often and it doesn't really bother me, but it's really only bothersome because I wasn't intentionally looking for them.

Tumblr actually has a great option in-site too, where you can mark your blog as NSFW, and if someone else has checked a box saying they don't want to see NSFW blogs in tags, it'll disappear. But a lot of people never notice either option, so they go unused.

Thanks so much for the tip! :)

Yes, whenever I am looking for toys aimed at six year old girls, I am fully expecting to see grotesque and pornographic imagery. Man, the things I've seen when looking for Sylvanian Families... :scared:

Yeah, I never search for FiM pony stuff on Google anymore. :yikes:  It's Rule 34 - if it exists, someone's got naughty thoughts about it.  (Double yikes!)  I personally prefer my ponies as, well, ponies - just the way they are on G1 backcards, frolicking around the meadow and prancing on clouds and stuff.

I've even stumbled across, er, vulgar FiM items up for sale on eBay... I have since become very particular about my search terms!

Looks like Nightmare Moon got her way!

In this case, it hits harder because this show was meant to have a feminist message, and tell girls they can be anything they want to be. For people to come in and hijack that message to sexualize the characters is just galling. I'm not talking about the non-sexual art; I love SFW fanfic type things and write them myself. It's the stuff that's ludicrously out of step with the show's message that gets to me.

I suppose then it comes down to whether or not you think that depicting a female character, explicitly, as a sexual being is anti-feminist. I don't personally think so, but that's a matter of opinion. :)

>Comparing demeaning, sexist and often graphically violent/degrading porn wholly intended for the male gaze to feminists reclaiming their sexuality from a patriarchal society

I ... I just ...
I hit my daily post limit (please tell me that goes away when my account's not so new?) after that post, so thank you for putting my thoughts so succinctly. :) There's a huuuuuuge difference between healthy, enjoyable sexuality and a huge amount of the pony art I've (unfortunately) seen.

I accept that it's always going to be a thing, as it is in all fandoms, but I would much prefer for it to be in its own labelled and locked, 18+ forums, not invading my wholesome, cute show.

You pretty much summed up my thoughts. Exploring a character's sexuality is not inherently bad or wrong - but no one should have to see it who doesn't WANT to. People aren't allowed to show porn in public for a reason! It's basically removing consent, and I'm sorry, but if you don't think people should be able to choose not to see porn ... I think you have some problems with your logic.

But, yeah ... a lot of the porn I have seen is NOT feminist. Graphically degrading, demeaning and fetishizing porn is not feminist, sorry I'm not sorry. Porn of underage characters is not feminist, and I'm honestly agog that anyone can think that male-gaze-laden, fetishizing and degrading sexual material is "feminist" just because there are women in it. Spoiler alert: men making porn for the arousal of other men is not feminist! (That said, I'm sure there's feminist MLP porn; but even then, people should be able to choose not to see it!)

I think if I had to choose the thing that bothers me most, it's the rape jokes. Porn can be drawn in a sensitive, acceptable way (even if it's not something I want to see); rape jokes are never okay and it bothers me immensely that certain members of the fandom have made it a thing.

And you've summed up, how I feel about being a MLP fan. Am fine but know people, get the wrong ideas. Because some people, draw certain things.

Absolutely agreed. I dunno if I could pick any one thing that horrifies me (it's all pretty awful!!) but the normalization of rape jokes as 'geez ur just ruining my ~good time~' makes my blood boil. Sorry, rape jokes aren't funny, except to sociopaths, rapists and the ignorant. For example, I loathe the 'fanon jokes' that have been popping up around Celestia; either she's a rapist or she's obese (because of her 'obsession' with cake), and neither are funny in the slightest. It's just hateful.

I'd take Rosencrantz up on their offer, I think there's a lot of material on this subject and I can't really sum it up in a sentence or two, ha ha. (And I'm also not an expert on the subject of porn and feminism!)

I would say - porn that is feminist would have to be A) not wholly intended for male consumption (which most porn is, especially a lot of the popular Brony porn), B) not demeaning to women and C) not fetishizing/objectifying of women. Women can draw porn that's not feminist, something is not feminist simply because women made it. (Internalized misogyny is a thing!) And, sadly, a LOT of the Brony-made "lesbian porn" is just that - lesbians being fetishized for the male gaze and male consumption. So no, I would argue that not all 'gay porn' is feminist, either.

I can tell I'm gonna get along with you. I hate how they've taken Celestia from a good, fair, capable ruler to...that. She's supposed to be an analogue for a trusted adult in a kid's life. Just arrrrrrgh. It galls me that we can't have one thing to ourselves.
