Boxed pretty parlor UPC code vs no UPC but with price tag?

I'm going thru my playsets to see how complete my extras are, and I noticed something odd: I have 2 pretty parlors with their boxes, but one has no UPC on it. This one also has no pony points on it, either.

Does anyone else have one like this? I'm trying to figure out if it came with a regular peachy or flat foot peachy, so I can put the right one with it.

Also, I'm not going to complain about prices any more. This was marked at $11.97, back when minimum wage was $3.35.  That means this playset was half a days work!

Your no UPC one will be a mail order version, I believe. It was offered several times via mail order and when they were sent out they didn't include pony points and of course there was no need to have a stock id reference on them.

ok, cool. that makes sense!  So I guess there's no way to tell if a particular set came with the FF version of Peachy, then, other than probably *not* the mail order one...

As you say the mail order one did not come with the FF version - in fact most of the releases of the MO Pretty Parlour didnt come with a Peachy at all!

There are some minor differences between the FF and CF versions - the leaflet is written in a different colour but its essentially the same leaflet, there are no ribbons with the FF version if I remember correctly and the tags are matt and not quite as sold a cardboard - but we are talking minimal differences and because I think I have only ever seen FF Minty with her original accessories 2 or 3 times, there could even be some variety or inaccuracies in what we know due to a lack of sets.

Wait a minute though, i was just taking photos of the box, and i noticed the one with no UPC has a Great Western price sticker on it for $11.97.  So unless they somehow got leftovers of mail orders...

Oh now thats interesting! Its certainly always possible and its just going to add to the confusion. Did Great Western carry old stock or was it a shiny and new retailer only?

I'm not sure, I tried googling for it, but I kept getting reviews about western stores, haha.  My impression is that it was a department store or a general store?  Hopefully someone can tell us!

I would love to know too! Because that is the only reason I have come across a lack of UPC on items in the past. What about it perhaps being a second hand/charity/thrift store? Therefore it got a price added when sold there? Expensive maybe but possible I guess if perhaps it was complete and in lovely condition.
