Italy Firefly
« on: April 28, 2013, 08:26:47 AM »
Hi there,
I've found a Firefly on the fleamarket here in Germany today. She is white anbd marked Italy. Now I have tried to find out something about her and so far I found out that some say a white Firefly does not exsist, that she is only faded. Then I have seen a thread where someone had a white Firefly like mine. And the white one seams to have curly hair, as the pink one has straight hair.  Is there someone who can tell? I really don't think she is faded, the colour is very even and the symbols are fine. Here are some pictures.

I already posted this pic earlier actually, but I got this Italy Firefly in a lot.

As you can see, she still has some pink between her back legs and behind the wings. Now, few months later, there is no pink to see. And she's just been with the rest of my collection. So, I would have to say she is faded. She fades REALLY easily.

That white colour looks just awesome though. I might even put my firefly to sunlight to make her pure white lol.

Can you check inside the seam of her head? If she is pink there it is a good bet she's a fader!
Then again, Windy can fade to white, but "white windy" is a pony that was made that way so I would wait until we know more for a certain answer ^^

I'd say she's faded :) Twilight, Giada Marina and even Parasol are prone to the same type of fading.

Yupp I agree. The pink Italians are prone to fading, they do it evenly usually and they do it fast.

Pink Italian ponies are known to fade. Italian Firefly (as well as Italian Applejack, Bowtie, & Medley) was released with both straight & curly hair. This question has popped up time & time again, and fading is always the conclusion. The fading is a reaction of the pink dye in the plastic. Since her symbols & eyes are painted, not dyed, there would not necessarily be any sign of fading on the painted parts.

i am quite sure she is faded (even if she is white inside of her head/neck). i had many italian fireflys going through my hands and all were faded to light pink to white. its hard to find a really pink one. but i was lucky :)

same with italian twilight (you can see that the lighter one is still pinkish)

Thanks for all your answers. I'm sorry I have posted an old question, I habn't been here for quite a while ;)
I'll check her head by time. But it is really amazing how much the colour can change. And it isn't even very sunny here in the north of Germany ;)
In the ned, who cares if she was made this way or if she's faded, she looks really nice. She was very dirty when I got her and I'n happy I could clean her so well.

I think the faded version looks even better than pink. Especially yours because its so bright white! I love white ponies. :P

She does look quite nice in white, even though it is fading :) They really do fade quite distinctly!
