Anyone here savvy with gaming hardware?
« on: April 20, 2013, 08:37:56 PM »
So I recently ordered a new screen lens for my Gameboy Advance (a regular, non-SP GBA), and after I put it in, and brought the LCD back on top of it only to see that it had a great big black splotch on it!  I was doing my best to be super gentle with it, but I guess I wasn't gentle enough!  Does anyone know how to fix this, or if it can't be fixed like this, can anyone give me advice on how to prevent it from happening again when I order a replacement?

Here's what it looks like now:

Yeah, I did a bit of looking around for LCD maintenance in general and most responses said it was too much pressure.  Still, I didn't see much on fixing it...

I asked hubby the gamer, but he has no idea. I'd suggest taking it to a local video game store that refurbishes machines on their own, they should be able to tell you.

I have no idea but if you look around sites about the chiptune scene you might be able to find some help. They tend to do a lot of screen mods for Gameboy and GBA.

Yeah, I'm of no help.  I'd poke around gaming forums or local shops to see.

I'd honestly say just buy another one. I think it's probably going to cost more to fix, than the price of a used GBA.
