A total number of each of the four Generations???

Sarah-Bee, I had a count once of the ponies I could find- not including nirvanas, and not including too many of the variants- I did include Firefly twice, because she is in two poses, but the long-hair and regular-hair versions didn't make my list. I DID include the Spikes, Megans, and Bushwoolies (and other pets) because they were genuine characters with names and faces. If I remember right, I had 573 US releases, so it was really nice to see your count so close to mine- it means I wasn't off by hundreds, at least!

And I'm ok with there not being more g2's, it's hard enough to get the ones that exist!

For G3, I've got:

For single character releases (no two versions of the same character, you have:
353 Ponies & FS (only including con/fair/project releases up to 2009), plus 46 Ponyville, 21 Breezies, and 14 So Softs. That's 434 G3 individual Characters. But then you could take the ponyvilles out as they are the same characters, etc... it's very subjective! I don't have a complete total, that'd be crazy. All the variants, wow....

that is alot of counting...I wonder who has the most ponies out of all the people on the arena...I myself have never counted them yet, people are constantly asking how many I have!!! I like it to be a surprise someday!!!

The ponies I've got on my list so far that come with both short/ straight hair and curly/ long hair are:

-Firefly
-Medley
-Bow Tie
-Applejack
-Cherries Jubilee (she was released first with curly/ long hair and then later with short/ straight hair in the UK. I think that is right. She was released like that in other counties too, I'm just not sure which ones so I only mentioned the UK. I don't think Cherries Jubilee with short/ straight hair was released in the US, is that right?)

I not sure if there are any others..... I'm still working on it.

I have two parts to my list so that I can include pony friends and pets but also keep them seperate from the ponies. They are sort of like a sub-group for me.

I haven't included Dream Beauties or Mummy Charms.... but I have included Sweet Scoop's pendant because I was kind of including her as an accessary for Sweet Scoops. Lol! Kind of funny logic really!
Hmm but maybe I should include Dream Beauties and Mummy Charms.... but then should I include My Little Kitty, Puppy and Bunnies..... they are cute..... and I do like completeness.... lol! I think I think too much! Lol!

Right, as you can imagine this list has prompted some research. I add things as I see them but obviously not everyone can be omnipresent like the ever powerful Loa so I miss things along the way. I've added some more Nirvanas from looking at Strawberry Reef. I make a point of only adding ones I've seen photos of myself so if there is no photo on SR then it's not on my list, there were only a couple of those though.

So new Nirvana count, which also includes dwarf Italians, Hunchback Italians and Airbrush Eye Italians as well as German (at least I classified them that way for ease -Cat I know it's more to do with release date than location )  iiiiiisssss 862

Gives a grand total so far of 1573 G1s

The g3 total is 353 brushable and styling CHARACTERS, NOT including variants. So Pinkie Pie I is counted, but not all the others and styling Pinkie. We need a better G3 total! Anyone? All the lists I have include g3.5 and not slight variations like hoof hearts.
