What do you find the hardest to draw?
« on: April 04, 2013, 02:52:51 PM »
(if this is in the wrong topic, please move it to the right one..^^' )

For me, it's hands and poses..I can draw ponies very well, it's just that when I draw humans...*shudder* Hands are always my weak point..They always look like little claws.. :lookround: My deviantART mostly has humans in it, however...  :drunk:

For me it depends.

For a long time I had trouble drawing hands, but I managed to overcome the problem a bit as time went by... Another problem for me are bodies in general: male especially. I don't know I always have a hard time trying to nail down the proportions to make the characters look anatomically correct.

Poses are also a bit of a problem, especially the sitting pose... ugh... though I figured that referencing stuff (as if using a stock photo) makes things a lot easier.

The thing I had least problem with are faces. Though I could really practice drawing different facial expressions... :P

Hands!  >_<
But sometime it's hard to draw different poses with the whole body too, talking about both humans and animals. Especially when they are in moving, or draw animals who goes straight ahead..or when people sits down, sometimes I feel it's hard to get the deep in the pictures..

Poses... mostly in humans/humanoids... guess i spent more time with animals than people lol. I have to look in the mirror or ask someone to take a pic of me doing determined pose to actually draw it later.

HAANNNDDS. It doesn't matter how many anatomy classes I take, how many tutorials and breakdowns I've studied. I can draw them from a model but from memory? Ahahaha. No.

Thanks Shenanigans for my awesome avatar!

Oh my god, I forgot about vehicles..When I draw cars and stuff, they look like a third grader drew them...

My thoughts exactly!  I always look at tutorials and stuff as well, I can't draw unless I have a reference, though.

I can only draw like..Waist or bust shots..Full Body poses are NOT my forte. Unless I have a resource or a reference.

Here's the thing. I can draw guys, but girls are a big no for my capabilities apparently -_-;; My girls always look to butchy and wonky  :(.  You know what that funny thing is, when I first started drawing I always was great at girls and really mediocre at male body proportions..Now it's all switched up!

Sitting poses..*shrugs* I have to use references too OTL

I adore drawing hands and feet.

The body is generally okay (just have a problem with torso length most of the time)

Ratio of shoulders to hips can be a problem.

But my most flawed items are usually the arms and legs, since they have no reference points and are in freefall.

Hands are sorcery. I just don't do it and stick with animals. Poses the hard part is coming up with them and then the next hardest part is the hooves and legs.

Backgrounds! I avoid them like the plague!

I'm not a technical drawer, either. I only ever do animals, really. Never really been able to do people from imagination - not to my satisfaction anyway. I only did my first commission with a person in it recently and it actually turned out rather well, but to be fair I was working from a photograph so I had some good reference.

Reference material is a must. I can draw almost anything with reference material. Thanks to six years studying traditional art in college.  :art:

From my head I am confined to ponies and cartoons.  ^.^

men! and robots/meca. I have officially put a ban on drawing either of them. I guess the problem is I've always drawn human women so drawing men is weird to me and I just don't like it. I'm sure if I practiced enough I'd get it but I honestly don't wanna! *crosses arms over chest and stomps feet*

as far as pony drawing I find front face views hard! I use to be upset that my ponies didn't have the real hasbro look to them but I have grown to love my style.
