I don't know about the extras, the halloween swap was the first swap I did and I did send some sweets etc. with my pony, but when I received mine they had sent me soooo many extras it was AMAZING ! !

....But then I felt bad for my swap partner that I hadn't sent enough

I think maybe there should be an upper limit of $xx so no one feels left out....
Don't get me wrong I loved what I received at Halloween but with buying the items and shipping them I couldn't afford to send out what they did, so felt bad for who received my parcel as I couldn't afford to send as much as others did

Maybe we should say minimum spend of $5 on extras and no more than $10 or something like that?
After all extras are nice but its all about the pony!

cant wait for the sign-ups...

I always understood extras as extras - and it is lovely to receive some sweets with your custom and a card. I am not a real Sweet Tooth so I mean it - some sweets are lovely. It is always a bit sad, when you only receive a custom and thats it. So, a bar of chocolate should do for me then  ^.^ But yes, the main focus of the parcel is the Custom pony.

I love sending and receiving extras. I think it adds to getting to know your partner and makes the swaps more fun. Yes it is about the custom but extras show you care to include "extra"...lol if that makes sense? I didn't re read once you edited the rules but I wanted to throw out their that shipping should be in a box. I received a custom and it was in a small bubble mailer with nothing else and a piece got broke, made me think my partner just didn't care.

Shipping MUST be in a box, I did add that, as I have also received broken customs, im with you on that one Unicorn pops, I felt the same, they didn't care. and for those new people that have never swapped before, its a MUST that they're posted well, all that work goes into them they need the best chance to get to there partner in one piece. So that rule is there. The extras says just that, there extras not required but it is nice. I myself cannot stop going overboard, but its so expensive to ship from Australia for just a pony, I feel better when I add extras as its like im getting my moneys worth in postage that's all. I never want my partner to feel bad, so that's something to think about also. So ill leave it as optional, And everyone can read what we have all written here anyhow now so hopefully everyone can add in alittle extra, candy or stickers, stickers don't weigh anything, so that's always a nice extra!
Thanks for all the input, Much appreciated!!

That's what I always send and generally speaking what I always receive (with the exception of the halloween swap, but I think that's just different because it's a holiday.) I don't know when it became expected that customs swaps should include extras. It never used to be the case.

Maybe its just the swaps we have been in, the Easter swap last year, we sent easter extras, and the candy swap we sent the persons fave candy. So its not expected, but I guess if you've been in swaps like those, Xmas ones, and Halloween an then do a non holiday swap you would still send extras as you have been in those that you've received extras in. If that makes sense.

I tend to send extras but that's just because it's fun for me and alot of times I'm somewhat familiar with the person I'm sending to and I like sending presents anyway. However, I'm perfectly thrilled if all I recieve is a custom in a custom swap. Extras are nice but they aren't expected. Extras are things not required of the swap. If they are required, they become part of the swap and cease to be extras.

I usually send a little extra - like a little chocolate bar, some mini haribos or a handful of candy ;-) And a card, to let my partner know who made the custom...

I draw a lot anyway, so my favorite thing to do as an extra is send sketches/drawings with my custom :D

I love personal items such as drawings and sketches!  I have them in a folder and when I finish putting my pony room together, I plan on hanging them up :)
