I don't find G1 cute (at least, not in general) they're more "pretty". The G3's are also pretty.

In fact, all three gens are generally "pretty"...not cute.

Me too! G2 babies are the most cute kind of ponies ever (IMO)!

I suppose the G1 ponies are the most popular ones because these were the ponies of our very own childhood. I wonder how such a survey would look in, say, 2023 or 2033?

Personally, I'm having a hard time deciding between G1 and G3. To me, their faces have such a lovable, slightly melancholic and trusty expression...
Well, I finally decided on G1, I can't say exactly why. It's an e-x-t-r-e-m-e-l-y close match.
I really like the slender and quite elegant G2 body concept, but from the neck upwards... uhm... well, I am just not too fond of their faces. Had they closed mouths, they could maybe be my favourite.
G3.5 - to me: No. NO!
G4... well, I saw the animated series first, so I expected the toys (the brushables, that is) to be more similar to the show characters, who are adorabilissimo. But when I saw the toys, I was quite disappointed. The general lack of quality and creativity saddens me, as it's obvious to me that the toys could be absolutely wonderful with a few small adjustations.
