Children's Book Character Swap?

so...um....Harry Potter qualifies as a childrens book, right? >.>

From the thread so far, it sounds like people are mostly thinking of younger kids' books, Eric Carle and Little Golden Books and things like that. Too bad, since I don't have my own kid and can't remember what my favorites were that far back! But I'd love a swap where I could list Louis Sachar, The Westing Game, Hank the Cowdog...

Anyway, I'm probably underqualified, but what a cute idea! I'd love to see a Monster at The End of this Book pony.

I think the problem with allowing general Juvenal fiction is if you haven't read the books of your partners prefs it would be harder to capture the essence of the story. Whereas kids books you can easily sum up with a few lines and the art is pretty widely available for a standard reference.

I think Sarahlacewing has a point there,  although perhaps something like Harry Potter or His Dark Materials,  where films were made (speaking of which what HAPPENED to 2 &3?!) perhaps allowances can be made?  If only for Fantasy value? I don't know though. I was initially thinking 0-6 range. You get such  amazing illustrators lending their talent to open the minds of little ones.

I'm also going to go ahead and ask if anyone wants to host this? Because I still don't qualify and I'd like sign-ups to start in May. Unless we all think that's not a good idea because there are another 3 starting around that time too? Also I have a burning idea for another, more complicated swap, which would probably have a lot less participants which I think's I'd like to join if it got enough interest...

sounds cool. i work in the kids section at b&n. so well i'm always surrounded by them.

i totally wish i could host. but i've only been here for 8 or 9 months.

I checked but I'm in almost the same boat as far as StrawberryMeadows as far as feedback is concerned, so no hosting for me yet. I wanna do this swap!

Sweet!  Gives me plenty of time to finish up my private swaps and get most if not all my work done on my BB to Brushable swap.  =D
