Dark spots on G1 Butterscotch...?
« on: March 03, 2013, 05:14:40 PM »
Just curious... I've been looking about for a G1 Butterscotch, and the ones I've seen lately all seem to have really icky dark splotches on them.  Is Butterscotch particularly prone to discolouration/pony cancer, or have I just been seeing Butterscotches in iffy shape?  And if it is a tendency to plastic breakdown or something, is it just the original (FF and original run of CF) Butterscotches, or do the MO ones do the same?  I really don't want to look into getting the 25th Anniversary Butterscotch to fill the hole in my CPs, so anyppny's wisdom is welcome. ^.^  Thanks!

I don't know... I have three of her and the only thing I noticed was that two were a bit sticky.  >_<   But only one has a dark spot and it's definitely magic marker.

In my experience, most Butterscotch's come with plastic breakdown and brown splotches from it. I think all of the releases have it equally.

Honestly I can't say she is as prone to problems as some other ponies but perhaps out of the originals, excluding the weirdness that can happen to Bluebelle sometimes, she probably does seem to be the pony which pops up with the most problems in that set.

However, as much as many of them do seem to break down earlier and have age marks, you should manage to find a nice one over time as she is at least a reasonably common-ish pony.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

^ This.  This exactly.  She seems to want to be a pinto pony.  Too bad her plastic & dye make for an unstable compound... she's so pretty otherwise!  Thanks for the wisdom, everypony; I'll keep searching, but I may give in and save one of the less-splotchy Butterscotches I see up for sale.  I'm finding I'm more of a completist than I originally thought...

Poor Butterscotch... I had no idea it was so widespread.
