I'm not sure I've ever heard of a Goodwill Outlet store before so I'm not sure how they work.

From what I've heard, you need to be pushy and REALLY hang onto what you want.

Where are you guys thrifting that you'd have to watch for people stealing your stuff.  I guess everything's really chill over here.

I'd recommend bring some hand sanitisers for when your done, it gets awfully dirty searching through boxes.

It's hard to imagine a violent Goodwill... Ha. But I still wish we had one around here.

It must depend on the particular store.  The one I've been to hasn't had any people stealing stuff.  In fact, most of the time there have only been a few other people there, but then again, I have only been a handful of times.

Be prepared to dig.  Wearing gloves is recommended - the stuff in those bins is filthy!  The clothes and books were in separate bins but everything else was just lumped together including glass and other items that could be easily broken and cut you - be careful!  They have carts and baskets available as I recall.

I found some playset pieces and plush items but very little in the way of ponies when I was there.

Goodwill is kind of dirty. It's like Deseret in that I don't want to have to touch anything for too long. I've never had problems at GW, but I've also never found ponies there, so good luck!

Sound like your Goodwill is different to mine in Australia. But it's still dirty the shop connected to the warehouse is anyway, the warehouse where I work is very dirty. Lucky for me working in the warehouse I get first pic.

I never could figure out the best way to deal with a goodwill outlet, besides going many times a week. So many rude people there... there were certain people who would go through groups to comb through the toys (to resell at the flea market). :/ They'd block the whole area so no one else could look at it.

So my advice is, if you see something you think you might like-- grab it to put in your cart. Then you can decide later if you actually want it or not.

My store sells all toys (unless marked otherwise) for 35 cents each. And then the clothes are by the lb...

Yes, grab what you might want and look at it later. When you are done you can find the curtesy scale to help you weigh your purchases. The scale here is not zero'd out for the basket but at the register it is.

Do not touch the bins they are bringing out until they have the whole row out and say its ok to shop. Then good luck to you as most people crowd the new toy bins. This is the best time to find unwatched carts.

Grab a duffle bag or backpack out of a bin to use for little things while you shop. You don't have to buy it but it will help cover your stuff so people can't see what you have. When you are done shopping you can take your stuff out of it before heading to the checkout.

Turn over the household item and holiday bins when you have time. There are usually toys underneath. Do this when you've gone through the obvious toy bins and are in waiting for new rows to come out.

Move big stuff to neighboring bins you aren't interested in to get a good look at the smaller toys lurking underneath.
