Ebay issues (new question)
« on: February 24, 2013, 01:41:55 AM »
So I managed to get my first ever sale on Ebay recently and I thought I had everything all figured out and ready to go until I went to the post office to pick up a small flat rate box...
Apparently I had no idea how small the boxes actually are because there is no way that the item I sold is going to fit into it >_< I already printed out the label and everything! I feel so lost right now in what I should do, ugh.
I'm assuming that I can't put the label I printed onto a different box that would fit the item because on the top it says small flat rate, so what do I do? Pay for shipping myself on the new box and message the buyer telling them there was an issue and that I have to give them a new tracking number??
Ugh! Please help!

Edit: Resolved, thanks for all the help! I voided the current shipping label. I do have another question however, it's in the last comment I left on this page. Thanks!

I am so sorry to hear about your troubles!  The flat rate boxes are very misleading.  Even the medium-sized ones are small.  I would void the label you printed online (you don't have a long time to do so) and ship the item as you would if you had never printed the first label.  You can still print another label, but it is important that you void the first one so you can get your money back.  And no, it cannot be used on another box.

Then, re-pack the item and prepare it for shipping.  You can also print the new label online, but you need to get an exact weight so you may need to go to the post office and weigh it.  It would save you money to get the weight and then come back home and print the label online.

Lastly, yes I would simply message the buyer and let them know what happened.  You don't necessarily have to go into detail, but you can let them know you had some trouble with the first label and that you had to print a new one.

Best of luck to you!

Thank you! I don't know why I didn't think of coming on here sooner and asking >_<
How would I go about voiding the first label?
I just recently moved into my grandma's house so I don't have a printer but I could just get a label made at the post office?
Ugh sorry for all these dumb questions! It's got me into a tizzy and I just don't know whats up or down right now, I think I'm stressing too much about it

To cancel (VOID) a shipping label.
Go to My eBay
Go to Sell
Click Shipping Labels
Click the Label in Question (all your recent labels will be there)
On the Very Right  under More Actions ... choose VOID

I believe you have 5 days from when you created the label to do this.

Hope this helps  :)

Thank you! I just voided it and sent a message to the buyer :)

Hopefully next time around this won't happen because needless to say I'm a little bit weary of selling on ebay again because of it -_-

Just asking one more time if I can get a label made at the post office or do I have to print one myself? I feel like it would be easier to just go to the post office in one trip than go there, have it weighed, go have the label printed and then go back to the post office to ship it..

Yes, you can go to the post office and have them ship it out for you.

Sorry for all these crazy questions! I've never actually sent out anything in a box before, I'm a strictly bubble mailer girl
