hand sewing gives you more control but eats away at time very quickly. remember to have velcro on the back so you can take it off and put it on

I have done both hadn and machine sewing for doll clothes, often times I do a combination and the easy parts like hems and such get machine sewn and the fiddly parts like hemming armholes gets done by hand.

It depends on your machine, but for me I find that my vintage sewing machine does very, very well with human sized garments but teeny tiny seam allowances for doll clothing more often than not get eaten up by it. Though I've found that simply increasing the size of the seam allowance and cutting away excess fabric before ironing it does help, it can lead to wasting a lot of fabric. Hand sewing doesn't have to be done for everything though I've found that depending on your machine, it's just more practical in the end to do it all by hand, even if the machine saves time it's just much easier that way.

I get my mum to help me because I don't enjoy sewing much & she does  but I use press studs rather than Velcro as so many of my childhood doll clothes were ruined from Velcro catching (although Velcro seems a lot less rough now).
