Spanish Starflower
« on: January 18, 2013, 05:24:04 PM »
Ok I'm wondering if a Spain marked Starflower actually exists...I've been on the hunt for years  (although I've taken the past year off ponies) and I've still yet to find one. I know there's a No Country version which I have but does anyone here actually have a Spain marked Starflower? If so I'd love to see pics!

Also (obviously) I'm obsessed with Starflower so I want to make sure I have all the different variants. The ones I have are the regular Hong Kong, the 3 Mexicans, 1 Italian and the No Country are there any that I'm missing (besides the elusive Spain marked) that may have come out of the wood work while I've been away?

Thanks for any help

I do have a Spanish marked Pinwheel and Tickle... so I guess there must be a Spanish Starflower. I'll ask in the Spanish Community and see what I can find out.

Yeah I think that's what everyone assumes. That would be awesome if you can ask around. Thanks so much : )

I only have Pinwheels photos for the moment. Tickle is still in the beauty salon!

The one in front is Spain marked. The body color is a bit lighter then the NC one. And it's a bit shorter too.

Here I think the color difference is more visible. In this case, Spanish Pinwheel is at the back.

There are no SUPER differences. Spain marked Pinwheel is a bit shorter and lighter, but eyes and hair are the same color.
In Trickles case, there is a slight pose change. NC one has the front legs more separated than the Spain one.

I've always assumed there was one, because of the others in the set with both versions, but I've only ever owned the  NC version myself.

I noticed in Snow's pictures in the "show your Spanish ponies thread" that there are 2 different cards for the MOC Rainbow Ponies. Maybe one type of card has NC ponies & the other has Spain marked ponies? If that is so, we may be able to get more info about both sets from the ponies pictured on the card.

Please correct if this is wrong, but we definitely have seen Spain marked:
Moonstone
Flutterbye
Pinwheel
Tickle

Can anyone confirm owning Spain marked:
Confetti
Trickles
Parasol
and of course Starflower

I'm thinking that the NC rainbow ponies definitely had a set of 8, but maybe the Spain marked set had less than 8, possible a set of only 4?

This is very good insight!! I wonder the same thing. Anyone have pics of the cards?

I thought of that too, that maybe because of the different blisters that meant that maybe one set was NC and another Spain... But I discarded the idea.

My reasoning:

There are two blisters/sets of rainbow ponies.

In 1986 they made: Tickle, Parasol, Starflower, Confetti, Pinwheel and Trickles.
(I found this image, it belongs to sosoftbuttons)

In 1988 they made: Tickle, Flutterbye, Moonstone, Confetti, Pinwheel and Trickles.

According to this, all of the ponies in the set made in 1988 would be Spain marked.... BUT, there are NC and Spain Flutterbyes.

In the Spanish community we have:
Tickle NC (glitter and metallic) and Spain (metallic)
Parasol NC (glitter and metallic)
Starflower NC (glitter and metallic)
Confetti NC (glitter and metallic)
Pinwheel NC (glitter and metallic) and Spain (metallic)
Trickles NC (metallic)
Flutterbye NC (metallic purple and red) and Spain (metallic red)
Moonstone NC (metallic) and Spain (metallic)

My theory is that there was not a real "logic" when creating the sets... I mean, that they used the different molds when needed and that they didn't follow any pattern. Also with the different symbols, metallic and glitter... I have a glitter NC Tickle and a metallic NC Tickle... O.o I guess in the Spanish factory they followed their own rules! XD

LadyPinwheel, what you're saying makes a lot of sense! The factory probably didn't care much for sets or collecting lol

So in that light there should only be a NC Starflower, Trickles and Confetti....anyone ever find Spain marked versions of these girls? If not it would prove LadyPinwheel's point to be accurate.
