That sucks. I'm so afraid of this happening to a lot of them now. I haven't found her yet. If I were you I'd try for and return or exchange at Target first. Target has always been really understanding when I've had to return things there. Hasbro, the one time I asked about a defective product they did give me a shipping voucher to send it back for an exchange but no guarantee I would get the same product back so I never sent it because I didn't want to get something random in return.
I don't understand why they had to mar her with blush to begin with. Could you just remove the blush?

I probably wouldn't even try to tape it up unless you are afraid of losing parts. You want them to be able to see the damage.If they do allow an exchange of the same thing I'd open the new one at the customer service desk to make sure it doesn't have the same problem and so if it does they know it's not just you being too rough opening the package and doing it yourself or something. I wish you luck getting understanding returns counter employees if you do try it, and getting a Celestia that is in good shape!
