Ponies getting smaller?
« on: January 04, 2013, 06:11:20 AM »
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed ponies are getting smaller and smaller as the generations go on? Like your average sized brushable pony. G1s were pretty big and chunky, G2s a little smaller, G3s smallet yet and G4s are tiny! I'm curious how small G5 will be when the time comes for them to roll around someday!
What does everyone else think about ponies continuously getting smaller?

I personally like the G4's playful pony size, it means I can put more on display instead of the bigger ponies from previous generations (I have 4 G1's and they take up an entire shelf on my living room bookcase ^ ^, whereas on my dresser, I can fit alot more g4's for relatively the same size)

I wouldn't want the brushables to get any smaller though... They are at the perfect size for me.

I love the designs of the ponies...but I REALLY wish they would have been bigger.  They are too dang (*sigh* really, phone?  Your autocorrect really wanted to change "dang" to danger"?) small!!  How can you play with something that you have to use a microscope to look at??  Polly Pockets are getting bigger and ponies are shrinking!  The world has gone mad!!!

Don't like it at all.  I understand that the price on MLP has remained the same, therefore they had to be smaller.  :(

I don't like them so small. I like the g1 size. All that mane has no where to go on such a small model.

I also wish they were a little bit bigger also. I hope the next generation is not going to be any smaller and not look anymore not ponish! I still think that G4 ponies look a little bit like dear with the big ears and short faces.

G1 size is awesome. But look at the G4 size.. I mean, even G3 brushables are bigger. My baby ballerina G3 pony is still bigger than a G4. I can't seem to be able to play with my G4s because of their size. The G1s are much better imo

Well, tbh, I think the G4 brushables are indeed a little too small to hold for comfort. My Tales Sweetheart is roughly two thirds the size of a G4 Fashion Style. Still, gotta find the balance between cost and affordability I guess. A pony the size of a G1 would be technically unaffordable to kids by today's currency values due to inflation.

I think the smaller and smaller trend happened when they wanted to split the brushable ponies into 2 sizes, the regular size and the fashion style size.

I actually like how the G4 brushables are teeny. They take up less space.

hahaha YOu are so right!

im only worried that if they keep shrinking that all we will have with a G5 is BB size...boo. i like all the generations and their sizes, i think G4's are cute. i bought my first G4 when they first came out because i thought it looked so funny i believe my words were "Look its My little Alien Pony!" because of the big eyes and little body. (poor rarity i didnt know anything about her at the time) since then they have grown on me just like all the other generations before them.

I love small, cute things, but even I'm disappointed with the size of the G4s compared to the previous generations.  I prefer the fashion styles much more, but I doubt we'll ever get any other than the mane six and the princesses.

I love the size of the G4 ponies but I don't want any future generations to be smaller -- that would be way too tiny! I think they would be Cutie Mark Crusader size instead of blind bag size.

I don't mind the size, it helps keep the generations individual to me. And I'm sure they would be more expensive if they were bigger as standard.

My sister however.... godsmacked lol. She had a few G1's as a kid, which I played with once she grew out of them and so it amazed that they are so small now. She bought me a Daisy Dreams GW for xmas and the Wedding Castle for her daughter (put on to MLP by moi ) and couldn't stop commenting on how small they were. I guess if you only remember the originals it does seem odd.

I know they are kind of getting smaller. That does not mean that I like it. I love G1s they are bigger and great. Sorry but I think of petitie ponies or ponyvilles. Heck even the blindbags are very small. I know kids can play with smaller ponies but if there is nothing to brush it makes me sad.  -_-

I don't have G2 babies to compare with XD

I can say this... G4s are a BIG jump from size comparison in adult ponies... excluding the Princesses and Shining Armor. And I don't have any of my G4 babies out to compare with the other babies xD
