We don't even have an IT department!
Is the link right because the topic says this is about Windows XP but the article talks about Internet Explorer?

Basically the highest version of IE Windows XP users can get is IE 8. IE 6,7,and 8 have a breach where your identity gets stolen. That's why I said "Windows XP" because if you have it, chances are you have the highest version of IE. If you are IE 9 or higher (with Windows Vista, 7, and 8), then you're fine.

I use Firefox instead of IE and it's a much safer browser, even in the earlier builds.
