Update on bust the clutter challenge!

I was about to list 6x Beanie Baby clear acrylic display cases on the Ponycon forum as free to good home, then it occurred to me that they would make good shelf risers for my ponies! They are now installed on the shelves (well, 4/6 are, the other two I'll sort when I get home from the gym).

So.. they were in a plastic box on the floor (I recently pulled them out from under the bed to make room for something else) and they are now serving a purpose. Does that count as clutter busting or do I keep it off my list?

I'll definitely join, my house is full of junk, it's unbelievable. I have three bags to go to a charity shop, that have been on the landing outside my flat for... oooh.... six months. So if I could just move those it would be a start

I love challenges anyway so deffo count me in.

3.   Bright Pink Tote- Donated
4.   Paperback Horror Book- Donated
5.   Unused Body Spray- Gave to Friend
6.   7th Harry Potter Book- Gave to boyfriend
7.   National Geographic Magazine- Throw away? Not sure?
8.   Old Comic Book- Sold
9.   A set of gemstone cabs I’ll never use- Sold

This sounds awesome! I've been working on my house room by room this past year (yeah, I'm slow, but it's getting done and staying done and that's all I care about!) so I've been through my office/screened in back porch (OMG so much crap!!), the kitchen (food, small appliances, dishes, etc . . .) the living room (movies, books and whatnot) and my daughter's room (clothes, some toys). That leaves my bedroom, the bathroom, and the utility room.

I took it off the front burner for the holidays and now I'm finding it a little hard to reignite my motivation, so this challenge sounds like just the thing I need.

Hooray! Getting rid of junk to make room for the best of life!

Hey, count me in!  Getting rid of junk/clutter is up on my list of things to do in 2013!

I've got two reuseable bags of books set to go tomorrow, and a reuseable bag of random stuff (toys, clothes, stationery) heading to the thrift shop.  That's three - if they get out of the house with me tomorrow!   I'll make it happen - this thread will be my motivator!

Ooh, are we starting this already?  Let's see what I've got so far...

1. Old pair of jeans, full of huge holes- trash!
2. A drawer full of old inhalers, don't use those medications anymore- trash
3. Vintage(?) Japanese decorative plate- give away (Passed it back to my mom)
4. A secondhand pair of boots I've never even tried on- donate
5. Plastic packaging for Ratchet and Clank figures- trash
6. Book- donate to the free library
7-10. baggy sweaters- donate. (Is it okay to count multiples as different things, or should they be considered one?)

No way am I sharing before pictures of my tip of a bedroom!

I think that I may be just too shattered tonight to do any more on this - I worked 8.30am to 9.30pm today and I feel dead on my feet, but I'm going to shower and see if I can't wake myself up a little.

May I echo this sentiment?  It may get better than it is, but it's never going to be Real Simple nor Martha Stewart material chez Lightning...

I can actually add those two bags of books officially!  (The thrift shop is closed till next week, meh.)  I did it!  I pictured you ponies cheering me on, and even though it's like -22c, I slogged 'em over to the library!  Yay!!!

So here's my official tally:

1.  One bag of hardcover books (donated to the library)
2.  One bag of magazines and softcover books (also donated)

And I gave another book away to a colleague, but it was in the original bag so I'm not counting it.

This is fun!  I'm all sorts of motivated!   Thanks, Storydreamer, and everypony who's participating and following the thread and egging us on!

What a neat idea StoryDreamer! I read about the removing 50 things/clutter from your home a while ago on some blogs too and thought 'Wow! Simple and effective!' 

Definitely count me in for this one.  I just moved and this would be a great motivator!  I hope to be able and post my tally soon.

Also will for sure check out those links to get me started. I tend to be a pack rat and get all emotionally attached to things even if I never use them/look at them. Hee...

Congrats to everyone so far in their valiant efforts!  We can do this!~

Oh Sugar.Lightning, you make me feel like I'm cheating for listing my books individually- LOL. Way to go though!!!

Bummer about the pictures hehehehe. It's way too late for me to post a before really, I did my major bedroom "overhaul" about a year ago. Minus emptying out the dresser, it won't look all that much different anymore.
