well, I'm pretty sure I want everything everyone has mentioned.  Why do they look better than everything that has been released?

This Thisssss I agree so much!:
Xeevee: "well, I'm pretty sure I want everything everyone has mentioned.  Why do they look better than everything that has been released? "

WHY is it always like that?
The most AMAZING line-saving things just magically never release, yet we get the 10th version of G3 Pinkie & like 5 of SunnyDaze, but then...no pearly white pony at all. The glitter one who was white is also fantastic, but neither G1 nor 3 ever let out a clear/white glitter one. We got like a bunch of oranges & pink/purples but that's it.

The really rare (not nirvana) ponies seem like this too.
Like the most "outstanding" and expensive ones on the set are also the rarest. Night Glider, TAF Buttons/Munchy(wierd food), BrightEyes/Mimic, Oakly/Cutesaurus/Chacha (oddest animals), the TAF babies/Sweetie Babies and the mountain boys...they're all VERY different from either other ponies on thier set, or other sets of ponies.

Like, you could certainly conceive of somebody like...
Baby Ember - pink
Baby BBE Frosting
Kiss Curl (an almost Poseyclone)
or like...Cotton Candy
or something being really rare for whatever reason. (maybe she was Mail Order only...etc)

Those examples are cool and all, but none of them is outrageous/wierd/mega-colorful or ultra-different though. It just hits me as wierd that like a super 'plain pony' is somehow also never rare. And then all these amazing different ponies just don't come out at all. I wonder what makes them decide

"Well we could do crystal clear mane 6..."
"NO we need the SAME Pinkie Pie but with a NEW HAT. No one wants crystal clear mane 6"
"Oh ok"

I totally agree with the Baby Girls and Pony Friends set - between FT Baby Sundance and all the accompanying dolls I truly pang for this set to have been released.

The Celestial Ponies. It makes me so sad that they never existed!

EDIT:

The toyless G3 unicorns and the only boy in G3 Ponyville. XD

I would have liked to have seen these get released:
http://www.zazzle.com/celestial_ponies_card-137030393880707715

I'm not sure anymore what their real name was.
That said, i need some of those mugs they are selling!

Yes! The celestial ponies came immediately to mind. I wonder how many other G1's were designed but never released. It's so easy to know with the G4's because of the internet, but who knows what's sitting on a shelf collecting dust somewhere from the 1980's?

G3 Abra-Ca-Dabra in the Kimono pose.

Although, as some have pointed out in the past, at least one had to exist for that picture to be taken, so that would mean that there is one floating around somewhere...  I guess the same can be said for all the known but unreleased ponies.  Not too long ago, someone obtained the red-haired G2 Petal Blossom that was supposed to be used in an unreleased playset.

Gingerbread pink pegasus from the G1 Cookery Pony set  She was by far the prettiest in the set and I asked for it for christmas but my mum and dad could only find Nice n Spicy (who was lovely!)

I did have a leaflet with the prototype on but for the life of me cannot find it!! If anyone has it can they upload an image ^.^

I never knew there was one planned. I did think it odd that some of the later UK/Euro sets only had 4 earth ponies, when most sets had 4 earth ponies, a pegasus, and a unicorn.

But for years before the UK/Euro line was dominant we only every got 4 out of 6 pony sets...so it was pretty standard that sets had fewer characters over here already. I would guess thats why the pattern continued.
