UGH AUTOBIDDERS..
« on: December 04, 2012, 12:33:34 AM »
Okay so I bidded on a pony lot for some fakies and a G1 Plushie.. And soon as I bidded I was outbid. I did it again and I was outbid as soon as I bidded. How do I stop this? It is SO UNFAIR. I just want a G1 Plushie :/ Sigh.

It just means that your max bid isn't higher then their max bid- it won't stop until your max is higher then theirs.

Unfortunately there is nothing you you can do about it.  It's auto bidding and it is allowed.  The buyer enters a maximum bid they are willing to pay. Which is kept confidential.  Then ebay places bids on your behalf using the automatic bid increment amount, which is based on the current high bid. Ebay will then bid only as much as necessary to make sure that whoever remains the high bidder, or to meet the reserve price, up to maximum amount that was entered.

I can only suggest the next time that happens that you figure out what you are willing to pay.  And then enter that amount.  If another bidder is willing to pay more than you would like, you can wait till the item pops again.  And hopefully there isn't someone else who wants it as badly as you do at that given time.

it won't show you another bidders max amount that they have bid, only what ebay has last bid for them. so if someone put in a max of say $50, it would still of only shown $10 when you looked. if you bid 11, ebay would automatically bid on their behlaf, and their max amount will now show $12, etc etc. you can tell if someone is bidding for the buyer, as they will keep outbidding you by small amounts till the last minute, then stop so you win - or you see the item get relisted after being won by the "other bidder"
