Lol - Taobao didn't exist in the 80s, heck the internet didn't exist so we didn't have the same torments. However, there are G1 prototypes that have found their way into collections although none as blatant really as a completely different pony which didn't get any kind of release.

I actually quite like the idea of being a little vocal about it. Maybe this is where we should take a page from the brony book - Zecora, Pony, the Favourites Set, the Funko ponies were all created with this new brony market in mind because they were loud and proud about what they wanted. Having lived through being ignored by Hasbro throughout Bore 7, I ll admit I am sceptical about whether it will get any attention but there is certainly no harm in trying is there?

I agree with HathorCat--we want Minty, but we can't count on Hasbro coming by and reading our threads, so let's TELL THEM we want Minty!  I think I'mma gonna write a letter to them this weekend . . .

"Dear Hasbro, PLEASE make a brushable Minty for the current MLP line.  Everyone loves Minty."

Short and sweet and to the point.

Seriously though, everyone does love Minty.  I know bronies who know practically nothing about previous generations, and they still love Minty.  There is literally no reason for Hasbro not to make Minty.

actually that would be cool  to see a "retro line" - not that I don't like all the new G4's like zecora, and trixie and new looks for fluttershy (much better than the G3) but yeah, that would be awesome to see bowtie and posey and melody and firefly and a gazillion others  :-) I think that they have done some other g3's like skywishes and such... so yeah, maybe it's just a wait and see

That would be AWESOME.  I so want a g4 Firefly.  But I think it would be even cooler if they made a special retro release pack of the original main six (Cotton Candy, Blossom, et al) released as g4s!

I really, really want a g4 Minty, too.

It's just frustrating bcause they have been teasing us with minty for ages! Minty has always been a very popular pony, both in g1 and G3 - she was a HUGE part of the G3 line, she may as well have been a core 7 pony.

Back at the 2010 pony fair, before the new show and new line of toys launched, she was one of the ponies asked about in the hasbro Q&A, and they told us then that Minty would be a part of the toy line. So yes, it has been about 2 and a half years. And I don't think a blind bag relase of minty is really what we were expecting when we were told that.

COME ON Hasbro. I think everyone's right that we can create a pretty big fuss and probably get a decent amount of bronies to fuss right along with us - who knows!

I emailed and sent them a letter...  I can make banners for us~ anyone have a photo of her I can use? I don't want to just start using one without the owners permission. and anyone have idea's for what they should say? my only one so far was along the lines of "Minty 2013! Tell Hasbro what you want!" with info under it about how to contact them

Minty would be PERFECT for a Christmas release!  But looks unlikely that it will be this Christmas...


They must have at least considered making her given that she has appeared as a blind bag and there was at least a small handful of prototypes.  I wonder why they didn't produce her...

There have always been "prototypes" that get out- technically, they are samples, first shots, engineering prototyes, test runs...  I have quite a few engineering prototypes and samples from various 80s toy lines, so they definitely got out...

Now of course it is much easier- because the "samples" that are made and sent to the Chinese manufacturing plant as the approved standards-  and test runs and QC rejects-  can get sold on Taobao which makes them way more accessible to Westerners...
