Netflix rec thread
« on: October 27, 2012, 05:27:00 PM »
I wondered if we could start a Netflix recommendation thread for things on DVD and streaming. I just watched two documentaries I enjoyed.

Her Master's Voice was a weird little documentary about a ventriloquist and her bringing a puppet of her teacher's to a ventriloquist dummy museum where they collected deceased puppets. I watched it because the museum and hotel they feature in the movie are right near where I used to live in Kentucky, and it was endlessly fascinating.

Indie Game was a great movie all about indie game developers. It manages to get me riveted within the first five minutes!

They're both on streaming.

My taste might be a bit out there but Vampire Prosecutor was surprisingly good.  Its a great take on crime and the vampire thing surprisingly works.

I love MSTK so I'd definitively recommend Mystery Science Theater 3000: Final Justice.  The movies horrible but the commentary makes it a winner.

I really enjoyed Dr Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. It's not too long and the songs are pretty cool (also NPH). It's on streaming.
...
Yeah, that's about it. I don't watch much besides Doctor Who with the occasional episode of MLP!

When We Left Earth is bloody amazing. It tells the tale of NASA during the early years, mostly the Apollo and Gemini missions. It is fantastic, give it a watch.

I've mainly been watching Carl Sagan's Cosmos and NOVA recently.  I really, really like science, though.  XD

One of my fave things to watch on Netflix is Survivorman.  Out of the Wild (both the Alaska and Venezuela episodes) are also cool--if you're into wilderness survival.

Fiction-wise, I've enjoyed The Gates, The Nine Lives of Chloe King, and Terra Nova, but all of them were cancelled after the first season, so you're kind of left hanging, which I hate.  Kyle XY is good too, I've watched several episodes of it.

the sparticle  mystery is  pretty good.  i was catching up on my glee, and  terra nova.   and  also SGU  watched the gates.

lot of good  disney movies.  Loved avalon  high.  old  shows like Ocean girl and  VR troopers.

That's what I'd heard, but I hope they bring it back.
