I bet you anything she was supposed to be named Diamondonkey. Just my thought. Could have been a translation error as it happens all the time with products and they sell them anyway.
I imagine the "Demon" part of the name came from a loose translation of "magical entity". For example, in Japanese the word "kami" can be loosely translated as "a god" or "a spiritual creature" or "ghost" or sometimes "demon". There are specific words for some of these entities as well, but "Kami" is a very general term. As far as my experience with Asian languages goes, these kinds of synonyms can also be very true for Cantonese/Mandarin. So I can honestly see how a bad English translation of "Magical Equine" became "Demon Donkey".
